What is Bioremediation?
Pros and Cons
Pros and Cons of Bioremediation on the Water
Cons: -All organisms don't always die off -People must remove the aqua plants
Pros and Cons of Bioremediation on the Environment
Pros and Cons of the Effects on Humans
Cons: -Noise of pumps/mixers in the nearby area possible -Fewer trucks means fewer jobs -Process could take a long time (up to a few years) depending on conditions
Materials and Long Term Effects
The long term effects are unknown but we can infer that they are good. Bioremediation will most likely keep the water clean once complete, make the water consumable, it is a cheaper way to clean water which means less hassle, and it targets mainly wetlands which are natural water cleaners so it's a push in the right direction for sustaining our water supply.
Interesting Facts and More Information
-Specially designed wetlands are being used in Europe to clean sewage using bioremediation
-In 2012 bioremediation was being used in over 100 cities across the U.S.A
-In New Jersey, ground water was contaminated by dry cleaning solvent, but is being successfully cleaned by bioremediation
