Principal's Weekly Update
RAISE Goal: to exhibit all of our values when representing the school
Te reo phrase of the week: mahia kia pēnei (do it like this)
Kia ora,
We had Harold the Giraffe join us on Monday. The students learnt some wonderful life skills in the Life Education classroom and have some follow up activities to complete next week. On Wednesday night we farewelled our amazing Year 8s. They are such a neat group of students, we know they’ll have a great time at the various high schools they head off to next year.
We again have some exciting trips lined up for our students next week. The seniors are off to the pools and Tawhiti Museum, while the juniors are visiting a Christmas themed house and the Water Tower. Thank you to our fantastic parents for supporting the school with transport and parent help to make these field trips possible.
Engagement Findings For Hawera Education
I will send out a separate notice later today that includes information relating to the engagement findings for Hawera education. Please take the time to read over the summary and send any questions or feedback to enquiries.whanganui@education.govt.nz by 19th February 2021.

I am positive Secondary School will be an amazing experience for you, keep putting your hand up and saying yes to all the opportunities that come your way.

Room 6 was very lucky yesterday to have Katie Parry make amazing Gingerbread Men and Christmas trees for us to decorate...which we did with great enthusiasm! Everybody was very engaged in their work and the finished products were amazing.
We can not thank Katie and her Christmas helper Alyssa enough for the fantastic experience they provided- and their time and materials. We are so lucky to have fantastic parents at Matapu School!
