Collegiate Academy at TCC Northeast
April 12, 2020
Parents and Students,
Collegiate Academy students have continued their learning even in the most difficult of times. I am proud of our students and how quickly they have adjusted to learning at home. The drop deadline for TCC classes has been extended to April 23. If you are struggling in your college class, please check out Mr. Cavanagh's article to find out more information.
We have moved CA Graduation to June 22 at 7pm at the Grapevine Convention Center and the Senior Prom/Awards Night will be Thursday, June 25 at the Colleyville Center. We can't wait to celebrate the Class of 2020!
I wish I had more information to share, but I have trouble knowing exactly what day it is!
One of my favorite movies has always been Groundhog Day, I just never imagined that I would be living it! :-)
Remember if you need anything contact us!
Struggling with your college courses, contact your Pathways teacher.
Struggling with your high school courses, contact your teacher.

Stay Well!
Always grateful,
Ms. Knutz

REGISTRATION:
Registration is quickly approaching for the Fall of 2020! All of our students should have access to a google classroom with helpful links/videos etc. that should help them be ready to click "Register" at 5 AM on April 20th when the classes open up, but if anyone still has any questions please email me or your pathways teachers so that we can help you!
Our timeline for the registration process is as follows:
Friday April 17th- Fill out the form on google classroom of the courses you plan to sign up for
Monday April 20th- Register for the classes you need to register for
Friday April 24th- Answer the new assignment that will be posted on your google classroom asking you to post your college schedule so that I can begin uploading them to skyward for next school year.
Drop Deadline
The drop deadline has been extended to APRIL 23rd. You need to be sure that you're checking in with your pathways teachers. If you haven't checked in by April 17th, WE WILL DROP YOU FROM YOUR CLASS REGARDLESS OF YOUR CURRENT GRADE IN THAT CLASS.
For drops: You CANNOT just drop a class. You must first contact your pathways teacher and Mr. Cavanagh to get approval for the drop. You need to also be aware that depending on where you are in your graduation plan, this decision may take you off track for your Associate’s as well as independent study or Optional Flexible School Day.
Summer Classes:
If you’re interested in signing up for summer classes you should reach out to your Pathways teacher. They have access to a survey that they will send you that will act as an application. YOU MAY NOT TAKE TCC CONNECT CLASSES. Our agreement with TCC does not include TCC Connect coursework, therefore if you were to sign up for TCC Connect course you’d be responsible for purchasing the textbook yourself.

Finally, if anyone is struggling with social emotional needs or is just bored and in need of someone to talk to feel free to send me an email and we can work on setting up a time to meet digitally. Stay safe!

The College Board has launched a new $25 million scholarship program to help students not only pay for college but also navigate the application and transition processes. The College Board Opportunity Scholarships Program gives students a simple six-step plan that shows them the specific actions they need to take in order to apply to college.
Students have a chance to earn scholarships ranging from $500 to $40,000 at every step. 4,000 students each year will earn scholarships totaling $5 million, and at least half of all the scholarships ($2.5 million) are designated for students whose families earn less than $60,000 per year. Presenters will share a detailed overview of this unique scholarship program and demonstrate how counselors and educators can support students in signing up for the program.
With the District currently closed through May 4 wants to keep the community updated throughout this unique time. Therefore, we have created this GCISD Update which will be sent to you regularly. If you know someone that isn't receiving these updates, but would like to, please direct them to this sign up link.
