Epps Island Newsletter

We are a tiger family

Hello Epps Island Families and Happy March!

This past week, Governor Abbott issued Executive Order GA-34 rescinding the statewide mask mandate and opening Texas businesses to 100% capacity effective this Wednesday, March 10, 2021. Klein ISD is currently reviewing the Executive Order and seeking guidance from the Texas Education Agency (TEA).

As we have done so successfully all school year, Klein ISD will continue to follow current TEA health and safety guidance. All safety protocols will remain in effect until further clarification is obtained. Klein ISD thanks our school community for your continued patience and understanding.

Remote Learning Days

Friday, March 12, 2021 is a district-wide day of Remote Learning (Learning from home) for ALL students.

Our teachers are working harder than ever to teach students both in-person and virtually. To support our teachers in providing a positive learning experience for your children, one area in need of immediate attention is additional planning and preparation time for our classroom teachers. To that end, we are designating the following dates as Remote Learning Days:

  • Friday, March 12, 2021

  • Friday, April 16, 2021

On these Remote Learning Days, Klein On Campus students are strongly encouraged to learn remotely on these days and will receive a packet to work on at home. Klein On line students will also receive a packet or assignments on Schoology in an asynchronous format (not live Zoom.) Students who attend school on these days will be monitored by teacher assistants and required to complete the same work as students in remote learning.

On campus learning will be available for parents who request it by filling out this RSVP form:

All students must turn in completed assignments at the end of that day in order to be counted present on these Remote Learning days.

Message from our Counselor:

At Epps Island Elementary, we want our students to exhibit positive character and learner traits. To encourage this development in our students, we focus on our Tiger Traits – our school core values. Our students are taught the importance of being team players – focusing on “we not me”. They are innovative learners who are willing to take risks. Tigers follow the golden rule and treat others the way they want to be treated. Our students are actively engaged in their learning and are resilient when they face setbacks. Tigers are also self-reflective, seeking-feedback to grow and improve. Parents, please join us in encouraging our students to demonstrate these character and learner traits in and out of school. Working together, we can develop strong students who will positively impact our community.
