North Clackamas Christian School Newsletter - Jan. 2020

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2020!

2019/20 School Verse ‭

John 3:21 But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what hey have done has been done in the sight of God.

ANNOUNCING....NCCS was recently presented with the 2019 Best of Oregon City, Religious Schools Award!!! Here is the link to learn about this local recognition. Giving God the glory!

Gratitude for Generous Giving

It is with a humble and grateful heart that the staff at NCCS thanks the generous donors who contributed to the Staff Christmas Bonus and Annual Letter. Every employee at the school received a Christmas bonus gift, just in time for the break. We are still totaling up the Annual Letter giving, and look forward to applying those gifts with intentionality. May God bless all who financially and prayerfully support the mission of North Clackamas Christian School.

We Say Good-bye to Mr. Rice

"The LORD directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives," Ps. 37: 23. This month we will say good-bye to Mr. Rice, our Assistant Principal, as he and his family move back to Klammath Falls, OR. They will join their extended family there, and establish their home in the town they grew up in. We have been blessed to have Mr. Rice and his family at NCCS for two years and pray God's blessing over them as they move on. January 17 will be his last day at the school.

Thank you Mr. Rice, we will miss you and your family!

URGENT NEED FOR HOST FAMILY

  • We have a short term opportunity in January, when 10 high school students from our Christian sister school in Korea will visit NCCS during an educational experience trip. The students will arrive on January 11 and need a host home through January 31.There is a housing stipend ($450) provided to cover expenses of hosting a student, and two students per host family is an option. During this visit, along with gaining insight of American culture through the home stay, the students will attend 9 days of school at NCCS, tour local businesses, and participate in planned activities with their school. Their teacher is traveling with them and will be on our campus.
  • There are two 9th grade girls from Japan that will study for 3 months, 1/25-4/16/20, at NCCS. We need two school families to host these girls and provide them with a Christian home during their stay. There is a housing stipend ($2250 for 3 months) paid to the family to host a student. This short term opportunity is a perfect way to learn about another culture and share Jesus.

If you are interested in hosting and want to complete the application, or have questions, please contact Jodi Gill, International Program, at jodi_gill@ncchristianschool.com, and Emily Clark, Business Manager, at emily_clark@ncchristianschool.com.

What's Happening at NCCS?

2020-21 Re-Enrollment and Financial Aid Applications Open Jan. 20

We are excited to continue a partnership with parents, as we fulfill a commitment to biblical worldview shaping at NCCS. In the next few weeks, look for re-enrollment information for the 2020-21 school year. We encourage parents to complete the process, which opens Jan. 20, so as to receive priority enrollment and financial aid consideration. Secure your child's enrollment by getting this process completed. On Feb. 1, enrollment will open up for new families.

Open House Invitation

Who do you know that needs to hear about the quality Christian education available at NCCS? We are asking you to invite your family and friends to the annual Open House on January 23, 4-7 PM. Our campus will be open with tours led by students and staff, a presentation on our school history and programs, faculty sharing about curriculum and spiritual development, information made available on enrollment and financial aid, special music and tasty refreshments served!

Please help us spread the news about our Open House by sharing the "welcome flyers" with your church, family, and friends. Invite them to your school, a place you chose for your child and want others to experience for their family. Thank you for partnering with us to get the word out!

Homecoming and King's Court

Come cheer for our Saints basketball teams on January 24 at our Homecoming games - Boy's JV at 4:30 PM, Girl's Varsity at 6 PM, and Boy's Varsity at 7:30 PM. Following the last game, the King's Court ceremony will take place. Here we will recognize four male and four female high school students for the Court. This is a special night for all and we hope to have a wonderful home crowd. Put on your Saint's colors and come cheer for our kids!

Sleigh Bells Winter Formal

On January 25, high school students will enjoy a memorable night at the annual Sleigh Bells winter formal. The event will take place at 6-9:30 PM, St. Irene's Event Venue (20175 SW 112th Ave, Tualatin). Tickets will be sold at school by Student Council for $35. Please be sure to see the Student Handbook (pg. 37) for dress code expectations regarding formal attire.

Character Trait: GENEROSITY

Elementary students practiced showing generosity as they learned about this character trait. As students (and teachers) recognized classmates showing GENEROSITY during the school day, they would fill out a "halo". The halo was added to a class bucket of entries for the month. At a chapel, one name was drawn for each class from those entries to have a special lunch with Mrs. James at Burgerville. We are so proud of all our young Saints for showing God's love and shining for Jesus in how they treat others!

2 Cor. 9:7 Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

Items to keep you informed...

Drama Program News

Mrs. Guthrie has served as the drama director at NCCS for the past four years. This week she resigned her role, in order that she may begin a "new chapter" in her life. We are grateful for her years of dedicated service and wish her well.

In light of this news, we will pursue new applicants to fill this position. Additionally, auditions for the spring production will be delayed until further notice. We are sensitive to disappointments this may cause within our community, but are confident God hears our prayers and will provide for our needs.

Annual Auction...SAVE THE DATE!

Prepare to relive the 80s at the NCCS auction on May 2, 2020!

The next auction team planning meeting is Jan. 19, 6:30 pm in the Library. Our committee is asking for you to consider, "Who do you know who can work with us to make our event successful?" We are asking for donations of vacation rentals (Mexico, Hawaii, Sun River, Oregon Coast, ....) and experiences (guided fishing trip, hot air balloon ride, in-home chef, professional sporting event...) to offer at the auction. Can you, or someone you know, provide these type of items? Maybe you have a skill to share that someone else would bid on?

ATTENTION: Here are the Sign Up Genius links to the auction class basket project. We appreciate your donations and help in making these baskets come together by the end of February!

Kindergarten - 1st - 2nd - 3rd - 4th - 5th - 6th - 7th-8th - 9th-10th - 11th-12th

If you have questions, are wanting to make a donation, or would like to work with the auction team, please contact Susan Van Sickle at joyfilled99@gmail.com. Attached below are donation and sponsor forms for those wish to partner with us in this way
