Happy Sunday! I want to start off by thanking all of our UIL sponsors for all of their hard work with our kids this year. The students did a great job competing and were tremendous representatives of NMS! Results were sent out earlier this weekend but if you did not receive them let me know, and I'll send them to you.
Thanks for everyone's help with the start of TELPAS testing this past week. Testing will continue this week, so we will continue to need everyone's help during transitions to limit noise.
We will also have our 5th grade Science benchmark this Thursday. We will have the entire grade level testing at the same time. I will send out an alternate schedule for 5th grade later this week.
On Wednesday we will kick off our March Madness staff challenge. Each day will have a different theme or task. We would love to have our entire staff participate in the fun! We will also have something very similar for our kids as well.
As we draw closer to Spring Break, student misbehavior has a tendency to escalate. Please make sure we are addressing any issues we have with student behavior. Be proactive in reaching out to parents as well if you start to see issues arise.
The district has put out a bond website for anyone who is interested in learning more about the proposed projects. Please help educate our parents and community members on the facts surrounding the upcoming bond. The link to the website can be found below.
Just a reminder, we will have a Guided Coalition meeting on Wednesday, March 22nd at 4 p.m. We will discuss proposed schedules and campus changes for next year. If you are interested in attending please make plans to attend.
Speaking of next year, continue to reach out to me if you are interested in moving grade levels or subjects for next year. I can't make any promises, but I will do my best to get you to where you want to be. Along the same lines, if you are interested in moving to another campus in NISD or to a different district please keep me in the loop. I'll do what I can do facilitate that move as well!
Have a great week and continue to push our students to be E.P.I.C and to win each and every day... Show up, teach' em hard, and love' em even harder!

Attendance
We still have teachers that are not taking their attendance on time. PLEASE CALL THE ROLL for each class, don't just ask the students who is missing.
Our ADA attendance MUST be recorded at 10:10 a.m. This attendance is tied directly to our state funding which is in turn what pays for our teachers and staff. If we fail to capture our accurate attendance at that time, then we are losing money. There is a 10 minute window that we can record this so PLEASE make sure that your attendance is taken each and every day between 10:10-10:20. This is no-negotiable so do whatever you need to do to make sure that this is taken care of!!
We will have a random drawing for students with perfect attendance at the 3 and 6 week progress periods. Students who are drawn will earn money toward the school store. Please help with encouraging our kids to be here each and every day.

Front Office Reminders
We are having a lot of students at the end of the day needing to call home for clubs, UIL, etc. The end of the day is an extremely busy time in the front office so starting today, students needing to call home for after school events will need to do so by 1 p.m (unless it’s an emergency). That is why it is extremely important to include any after school functions on the NMS Weekly Schedule of Events. I will do a better job at sending the link out earlier so that you have more time to complete. We will also include the daily club schedule on the morning announcements. Thanks so much for your help and understanding!

We will handle all tardies in the morning through the front office. Please do not mark any students tardy to first period. Thanks!
Reminders
- Please make sure you are arriving to school on time! You should be in your room and ready to receive kids at 7:30 a.m. I know that emergencies happen, but we will begin meeting individually with teachers who are routinely NOT on time. Thanks!
Make sure you are monitoring your classrooms at all times. . When we have to contact parents the first question they ask is "where was the teacher/adult". It's extremely difficult to defend if you aren't in the room when it occurs. If you need to leave your classrooms for any reason, please make sure you have a neighboring teacher look after your kids.
- Please make sure you are posting lunch orders first thing each morning.
- During school hours, all staff members should be entering and exiting through the front doors.
- To help keep the campus secure after hours, when you leave campus in the afternoons, please make sure that the door is locked behind you.
- Please make sure you are reaching out to student parents of students who are struggling academically and behaviorally. For a child to be successful, the student, school and parents/guardians need to all be on the same page
- Please make sure ALL SPED paperwork is completed and submitted on time!
- Submit the lunch count each morning.
- Each employee is responsible for putting their absences into AESOP/Frontline. Please make sure to include short note on the reason (sick child, Region IV conference, appointment, etc)
- Google Classroom- the expectation is that we are putting class/subject information DAILY onto Google Classroom. This is a great source of review for students on campus and allows those who are out to keep up with their schoolwork.
- If you have any housecleaning issues, please makes sure to write them in the SSC binder. If it is still not take care of, please let one of the administrators know so that we can address it.
Duty Schedule
Please make sure that you are on time at duty the day you are assigned. If you are out for any reason, please make sure your duty is covered. Car rider duty should end by 4 p.m. Please push all students from the back to the front of the school. We will have an administrator/office assistant take over from there. Thanks!
