FROM THE PRINCIPAL'S DESK...
And the truth will set you free
Dear Parents and Guardians,
We begin a new month; a month that we had hoped would see us return to school. Now we know that we have another month ahead of us with the same, difficult challenges. We are deeply grateful for your cooperation and support during this pandemic.
As I communicate with the faculty and staff, they continue to express to me how much they miss their regular interaction with your daughters and sons. They recognize that not being with your children is a loss for them as well. We wanted to try to communicate this to everyone in today’s newsletter.
This coming Sunday the Church will enter into Holy Week. We will remember Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday. And yet, we will not be in the pews holding up palms to be blessed. It’s hard for me to believe that our churches will be empty.
Today’s reading for April 1st gives me great hope. Jesus tells his disciples, “If you remain in my word, you will truly be my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” (JN 8:31) What is this truth? It is the truth that we remember and celebrate each time we go to Mass. It is the truth we acclaim each time during the Consecration. Jesus has conquered death, and he is our savior.
May we all take time over the next week, even in the midst of all that we have to face, to remember this truth and this promise. I do not know or understand why we are all in this time of great difficulty. May we recognize our limited understanding and remember Jesus’ promise “and the truth will set you free.”
Sincerely,
Daniel A. Minelli

We love our St. John's dads and missed seeing all of you in person last Friday for Donuts with Dad.
