A Special Message from St. John's Faculty & Staff

FROM THE PRINCIPAL'S DESK...

And the truth will set you free

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We begin a new month; a month that we had hoped would see us return to school. Now we know that we have another month ahead of us with the same, difficult challenges. We are deeply grateful for your cooperation and support during this pandemic.

As I communicate with the faculty and staff, they continue to express to me how much they miss their regular interaction with your daughters and sons. They recognize that not being with your children is a loss for them as well. We wanted to try to communicate this to everyone in today’s newsletter.

This coming Sunday the Church will enter into Holy Week. We will remember Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday. And yet, we will not be in the pews holding up palms to be blessed. It’s hard for me to believe that our churches will be empty.

Today’s reading for April 1st gives me great hope. Jesus tells his disciples, “If you remain in my word, you will truly be my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” (JN 8:31) What is this truth? It is the truth that we remember and celebrate each time we go to Mass. It is the truth we acclaim each time during the Consecration. Jesus has conquered death, and he is our savior.

May we all take time over the next week, even in the midst of all that we have to face, to remember this truth and this promise. I do not know or understand why we are all in this time of great difficulty. May we recognize our limited understanding and remember Jesus’ promise “and the truth will set you free.”

Sincerely,

Daniel A. Minelli

St. John's School Will Remain Closed Until May 1

Per Ohio Governor Mike DeWine's order that was announced yesterday, all schools in the state of Ohio are to remain closed until at least May 1, 2020. He will reevaluate whether or not to reopen schools as May 1 approaches.

Virtual Talent Show

We hope everyone is enjoying watching all their school mates show off their talents this week. It is not too late to send in a short video for our "30 seconds of fame" Virtual Talent Show this week. Please send video to lheidorn@stjohnsdrschool.org or through Facebook Messenger to Laura Heidorn. If posted on the "St. John's Info" group Facebook page, we are unable to save the videos amd share them on our official school social media sites.

DON'T FORGET TO ORDER YOUR 2019-20 YEARBOOK

Don't miss out on all the memories! This year is sure to be unlike any other your student(s) will ever experience. We have received so many wonderful photos of everything you are doing at home these past few weeks that we may even need to increase the number of pages in the yearbook just to relay what a unique experience this year was!

1) Order your yearbook online at ybpay.lifetouch.com and use Yearbook ID Code: 12651120

Yearbooks should arrive in mid August and be distributed at the beginning of next school year.

help support Colerain Small Businesses

It is important to remember our small business owners in Colerain Township during this difficult time. They are always very generous to St. John's when it comes to our school and parish fundraisers, and we need to make sure that we support them in return in whatever way possible.

"Love thy Neighbor"

Last weekend, Corpus Christi and St. John Neumann parishes held a Drive Thru Food Drive for the Corpus Christi Food Pantry. Thank you to the Scholz family for organizing and collecting two car loads, both bursting at the seams, with items to donate to needy families during this Covid 19 pandemic.

Friday: Donuts with Dad & Pajama Day

We love our St. John's dads and missed seeing all of you in person last Friday for Donuts with Dad. Looking on the bright side...this year you could have all stayed in your pajamas if you wanted to and had cinnamon rolls, pop tarts or whatever else you liked! If you would like to see all the photos, please visit our Facebook Donuts with Dad Photo Album.

Goin' on A Bear Hunt

Join the fun! If you would like to participate, simply place a stuffed bear in a window of your home so when families go for car rides or walks during this quarantine, they can hunt for bears!
