Weekly Updates from Big Walnut High School

September 11, 2020

We hope all of our Golden Eagle families had a good week and are getting back into the school-year routine. A reminder that all teachers have posted a Curriculum Night video in the important information folder of their course. We encourage you to view those as you are able. Please feel free to reach out to your son or daughter's teacher if you have further questions. Additionally, we held our first round of Virtual Parent-Teacher conferences on Wednesday. While we missed getting to meet you face-to-face, it was still a great opportunity to connect with our families. Our next round of conferences will be on October 14.

Next week is Homecoming Week 2020. While this year will definitely look different from year's passed, we still want to honor this Eagle tradition. Students will participate in themed dress-up days and we will have the opportunity to crown a Homecoming King and Queen. While we won't be able to fill the stands with Big Walnut students, past and present, we will be cheering for our team in our hearts! Stay tuned for next week's newsletter with some pictures of the festivities.

As always, please don't hesitate to reach out to your child's teachers, school counselor or the administration if you have any questions or concerns. Feel free to contact the main office at 740-965-3766 between the hours of 7:00 and 3:15.

A Few Reminders from our Front Office

Please remember, if your student is going to be absent, running late, or needs to leave early please call the attendance line ahead of time and leave a message at 740-965-7776.

Additionally, to minimize traffic in the main office, please do not come in to get your student unless otherwise instructed. We are asking that parents/guardians call or provide a note ahead of time giving the student permission to sign themselves out and meet you outside in the loop. No student may leave early unless a parent/guardian has given permission. Even if your student is 18, they must have prior approval from a parent or guardian.

Finally, if parents need to drop off any items, please leave them on the table just inside the first secure door of our main entrance. There are post-it notes and pens available for you to label items. Please text your student to let them know their items are there. Students will be able to pick up their items in between classes. We will not be calling students out of class for dropped off items unless it is an urgent matter.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation!
