Save The DATES!
ELAR/SLAR Summer Professional Development
Tier 1 ELAR/SLAR Priorities
Below are the summer professional training dates for teachers in the ELAR/SLAR classroom. We want to invite the Special Education Teaches as well. We are excited about the learning!
Reading and Writing 2 Day Grade Level Conferences
Rigorous Reading and Writing Classrooms
The Reading and Writing Conferences are designed for BISD ELAR/SLAR/ teachers and Special Ed teachers at each grade level. Participants will leave with a cohesive plan for implementing and maintaining effective reading and writing workshops that create proficient, independent readers and writers. Norma Jackson will be leading the two days of explicit training on the Reading and Writing Workshops . Teachers will gain a deeper understanding of Close Reading and how to apply the strategy within a focus lesson and then extend it to student's independent reading and writing. There will be a entire afternoon of how to develop rigorous literacy workstations. Writing Workshop will be addressed day two.
Please see brochure for the agenda and specifics about the two days!
Teaching the Small Guided Reading Group Trainings
Explicit Instruction on Guided Reading
How do I choose the appropriate text to use with the group?
What are the components of the small guided reading group?
How do I know when it is time to move the students into a new text level?
Are these the questions that are in your thoughts as you implement guided reading into your Reading Workshop? If so, then this is the opportunity for you!
The training will be offered twice in the summer. Hopefully one of these dates will work for you!
