Hark! The Herald

Our middle schoolers made pumpkin pie from scratch last week at Retreat farm. Look for the recipe below!
Everyone is encouraged to attend the performances by Frank Runyeon at the parish this weekend!
Our students were blessed with special private performances during the school day today.
Our youngest students participated in Salt and Light, while our older students heard an abbreviated version of Mr. Runyeon's Hollywood vs. Faith. It was a really eye opening discussion and we would encourage you all to find some time tomorrow evening to attend for yourself! You wont regret it!

New Education and Nutrition Program at Retreat Farm
Retreat Farm recently hired Carissa to take on the exciting role of Education and Nutrition Programs Coordinator. Our students are now reaping the benefits and we are so grateful!
The Farm has gardens for the students to tend to and crops to harvest. This nutrition program now allows our students to have a full Farm to Table experience so they can come to appreciate the source of our meals and participate in their preparation.
- Two weeks ago, after the students returned from Camp Hi Rock, all of the middle and high school students hiked over to the Farm to help with apple cider making.
- Last Friday, our middle schoolers helped to bake pumpkin pies from scratch
- And in the weeks ahead, the rumor is that students will be doing some felting with wool from the farm's sheep, and making farm fresh cheese!
If you're looking for ideas to make use of all those pumpkins displayed on your steps, try the recipe below. The students were kind enough to bring a few pies back for the rest of the staff to try last week and it was delicious!
New Chess Class Being Offered at Saint Michael School this Fall!
If your child is interested in participating, please sign up asap.
The class will only be offered if we have 10 students registered.
It would also be helpful if you notified the office.
The registration is done online with the Chess teachers directly, so we have no idea who is interested and/or registered.
Parent Volunteers Needed
- We are looking for donations of snack items for the front office... sometimes we get hungry... no, just kidding! It's for the kids when they forget to bring something for snack time... well, unless it's really good, and then we might sample it.
- If you are driving to one of our field trips next week, we must have all of the necessary documents on file for you: A current drivers license, current automobile liability insurance, a completed Fastrax background check, and a certificate of completion for the Virtus online training. Contact the office immediately if you need help.
- If you plan to drive or chaperone for Winter Sports, please check in with the office to make sure you are all set with Safe Environment Training through Virtus Online and insurance paperwork for the Diocese. This process can take a few weeks. It would be fantastic if we could have everyone ready to roll by early December.
