Avengers: Age of Degan--No Excuses!

Greetings from our nation's capitol! I am so excited to be at the Learning Forward Conference! I am attending some sessions on increasing students' ability to ask questions, how I can plan better professional learning for you through the structures I choose, and some information about rigor and pattern seeking with the brain. On Tuesday afternoon, I will be presenting "Grit Happens" which will share our journey in learning about grit and growth mindset and how we have intentionally tried to teach this in meaningful ways. Sharing the great work that you every day to make a difference in the lives of our children and impact education is a great joy!

I can't believe that we only have two short weeks until Christmas Break. I hope that you are finding a balance with making the most of every instructional minute, building relationships and supporting students needs, while also taking care of yourself and the demands of the season in your personal life. Staying focused and not allowing ourselves to become overwhelmed is so important if we are going to reach our goals.

I will miss you all terribly this week while I am gone. I know you are in good hands and will take care of each other. I just hate being away from you, even for a good cause!

Please know that even though there are many miles between us, I am only a text, email, or phone call away if you need me! Take care and see you soon!

Make it a great week!

We believe that every child deserves the opportunity to be educated in a way that prepares them for college. When schools exhibit a culture of universal achievement by believing in students, they collaborate around that belief. During collaboration, they align their standards as a team. As teams align standards, they need to assess the standards and manage the data. Then, and only then, can they pursue meaningful interventions with their students.
