Egg Harbor Township High School
Week of March 12, 2023
A MESSAGE FROM OUR PRINCIPAL
Top of the morning to you!
It is a beautify day here at EHT! The halls are filled with green for St. Patty's Day and students are excited to officially begin the spring sports season.
Last week, 47 members of our FBLA Chapter participated in the State Leadership Conference. Of those students, 12 took tests in the areas of: Banking & Financial Systems, Business Law, Cyber Security, Economics, Entrepreneurship, Financial Math, Business Concepts and Journalism. The remaining students participated in projects or presentations. In order to advance to the National Conference, being held in Atlanta, GA from June 26 to July 1, the students had to place in the top 4 of their category. We are so proud to announce the top 4 for EHT are:
Business Ethics
Sadia Rahman
Megan Tran
Broadcast Journalism
Sara Abbas
Jade Qin
Angela Chen
Coding and Programming
Mustafa Samet
Cimen Shao
Xuan Zhuang
Digital Video Photography
Mesha Gulati
Mya Cialini
Publication Design
Diana Dang
We are excited to announce that Ms. Carmella, Ms. Davis, and Ms. Lambert, received a grant from Teachers Helping Teachers, XI Chapter of DKG sorority. The money will be spent on the beautification of the yoga area, yoga mats, yoga blocks, and an essential oil diffuser to make the area smell delightful!
As Spring is upon us, it is a great opportunity to get outside. On Wednesday, the Hiking Club, led by Mr. Walter went on a trip to the Atlantic County Park in Estell Manor. For the first outing, 27 students along with 4 staff members enjoyed the beautiful day with a walk out to the artesian well via the boardwalk. We would love to have more students and staff join us for the next hike.
The Annual Spring Flower show will take place Monday, March 20th through Wednesday, March, 22nd. The students of the Eagle Greenery have been working diligently to create beautiful and unique arrangements. Our theme this year is Willy Wonka - so be on the lookout for lots of delicious sweets! To win the arrangements, you can purchase tickets for 50 cents each and you do not need to be present to win. Winners will be chosen on Wednesday afternoon. Thank you for your support of the Eagle Greenery!
Next week, our students will participate in an inspirational assembly, the MAC Mentality. This program will be sponsored by the Tyler Wechsler Foundation. I would like to thank Ms. Reinhardt for making this opportunity possible. If you would like to learn more about the assembly, please CLICK HERE.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Ms. Carugno

STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT
Upstanders of the Week
Olivia Carty nominated by Ms. Terry and Ms. Lynch
Olivia chose to give her breakfast to another student in class who wasn't feeling well due to hunger. We all appreciated Olivia's act of kindness and compassion for others.
Ariadne Arias-Rufino nominated by Ms. Law
Students learned a new technique for folding pants in Eagle Boutique this week. Ari only had to be shown once and then she was doing it on her own like a boss! She is Eagle Boutique's most valuable employee this week!
Jenna Gray nominated by Mr. Passante
Jenna is a very kind, patient, and hard working student. She has a busy class and work schedule and still finds the time to come out and participate in Unified sports. She makes the activities fun and memorable for all that participate.
Alexis Maldonado Ortiz nominated by Mr. Passante
Alexis could be choosing to do many other things but chooses to come out and play unified. He is patient and gets the unified team playing hard. He creates an inclusive environment for the athletes that makes it a fun experience.

#DAY 1
The High School will be continuing with this bullying-prevention program for this school year!
#DAY1--a staff and student-led philosophy that will serve to foster a building-wide atmosphere of kindness and inclusion.
This program was started a few years ago in Bergen County by the Tyler Clementi Foundation and has gained momentum throughout the state and country for use in schools, community groups, workplaces, and sports teams.
The premise is simple: the adults in the building make a “declaration statement” about behavior that is expected, as well as behavior that is unacceptable, and we all pledge to conduct ourselves accordingly. This includes seeking help when we witness unacceptable behavior occurring.
This notion is called being an #Upstander
Has your student taken their #Upstander Pledge yet?!?
Have them sign into their school account and click here! 😊
