Ohlone Family Connection

Gratitude
We have learned a lot in eight days! I am grateful for your partnership, the hard work of our teachers and staff, and the engagement our students. While every day is not picture perfect, we are becoming more accustomed to what is needed to feel connected and engaged in a virtual classroom. If your child is struggling, we are here to partner with you to ensure that we get them where they need to be. Please reach out to your child's teacher so we can begin finding solutions to re-engage.
This afternoon's Ohlone 101 was a fantastic opportunity for new parents to hear about Ohlone and all of the amazing community events that we are known for. Oh, it's on, no matter the landscape! A big thank you to Elbra, our PTA President and our leads and committee chairs. Thank you to K/1 teachers, Nancy and Dave who shared Ohlone tips for kindergarten followed with a bit of Q&A. Slide included below.
I am grateful for our spectacular parents who volunteer their time and support our school in so many ways that we could not do without. Please consider volunteering for an open position. You will be in excellent company. We need you!
Thank you to our amazing PTA for purchasing document cameras for our teachers. This is a critical part of what teachers need for instruction and we are so grateful for this generous gift!
One last thank you for our generous and supportive community who rallied around our staff who have been displaced or suffered a loss as a result of the wildfires. Our teachers have felt the love and appreciate all you have done to make life a little easier. Thank you.
I look forward to visiting classrooms this week and seeing your beautiful children.

To monitor student engagement, your child must keep their camera on during instruction. Please remind your child to keep their video on the entire time when teachers give this direction. Teachers may provide the option of turning videos off briefly for specific reasons.

PiE
PiE provides funding for our full-time school counselor. We are currently in the process of interviewing for an amazing counselor who will provide social-emotional classroom lessons and school-based counseling for our students.
Music, dance, and art are critical components in creating a well-rounded educational experience for our students. As a result of your thoughtful donation to PiE, all Ohlone students receive instruction in these areas. We are also fortunate to have Coach Bryant who provides SEL team building activities with Coach Bobby. The kids love B&B Time!
Spectra Art
The Spectra Art program is committing to a distance learning approach for the first semester. Lessons will be differentiated by cluster, aligned to established learning targets, delivered asynchronously, and will allow students to continue to grow as artists during these challenging times. Supplies and materials will be provided. Art begins at the end of September. Please see brochure below for details.
