Principal's Message

Thank you, again, to Akiima Ruddy for her leadership, creativity and hard work in planning and running this year's record-breaking book fair. What a fun event outside. And, a huge thank you to all the parent volunteers who helped set-up, take-down, and run it during the day. We could not have done it without you!

I'd like to extend a big welcome to our new third grade teacher, Bonnie Rambob. She took over for Mr. Grimm, who was our long-term sub since the first day of school. Though Mrs. Rambob has been away from teaching for a few years to raise her family, she brings to LeGette a wealth of teaching experience. We're super happy to have Mrs. Rambob on our staff.

Thank you for wearing masks while on school property. I also encourage you to have your students wear masks, when appropriate, outside of school. This will lessen their exposure to others who may be COVID positive or simply carrying the Delta Variant. Our year started off with a number of cases and decreased the past two weeks. Unfortunately, we're seeing an uptick in cases with week across all grade levels.

Be sure to order dinner from the Old Spaghetti Factory in Rancho Cordova October 5- 7 during our 3-day fundraising extravaganza!! It's for carry-out only and if you use the checkout code, EARL, 10% of your total pre-tax purchase will go to our PTO. And as you hopefully know by now, all PTO funds support the school and classrooms. See the event reminder below for more details and the flyer.

Our Fall Enrichment is about ready to begin. Sorry for the late information, but Mrs. Strauch was working hard with our vendors to put together a program quickly. Classes begin next week.

Lastly, if you have academic questions or needs for your student, please contact your child's teacher sooner rather than later. We want to ensure that frustrations and issues to linger to a boiling point. We're all here to support your children (our students).

As always, if you have any questions or suggestions, please feel free to contact me at school. Thank, you!

Greg Barge

Book Fair Success! Thank You Akiima and Parent Volunteers!

Our first book fair in two-years was a huge success! We can't thank Akiima Ruddy and Teri Accurso enough for all their hard work being at LeGette every day, all day.

This book fair was truly a team effort and because of the support of our volunteers we were able to break records and have our first outdoor book fair! We sold $15,781 worth of books at our book fair which is going to help us raise scholastic dollars to buy more books for our library and school classrooms. With this money we have already been able to purchase $2,138 in books for our school library, classrooms, and Discovery Club.

The help from these volunteers made it possible: Teri Accurso, Stephanie Cook, Jenny Jones with her teenagers before high school, Krissie Jones and her family before school, Leanne Ortega and her daughter Lauren Ortega, Taja Ferrarini, Robin Spronk and her daughter Kaitlyn, Mackenzie McDowell, Jillian Molmen, Nicole Zawaydeh, Renata Burkart, Cathy Potter, Madelyn Harvey, Heather Wigginton, Adrienne Olds Blank, Erica Drost, Michaelynn Ryan, Lesley Schafer, Kimberly Aussieker, Rive Plate, Jana Emery, Kamalee Shurden, Jenny Stefanek, Holly O’Keeffe, The Westovers, Sara Hyde-Lampa, Kathryn Condley, Lynne Morton, Lily Kazimir, Marti Stanbach, Kim Hammons, Serene Katschke, Melanie Hunter, Austin and Natalie Rioux, and for the staff and parents who started to help clean up without signing up to volunteer at the end of the day.

A HUGE thank you to all!

TRAFFIC ALERT! Drop Off and Pick Up ONLY along Kenneth

As you may or may not be aware, we have a lot of parents who drive their students to school each day. And, many of you use the drop-off loop by the school and field. If you drive your student to school, we need your help.

First, the curb along Kenneth (south of the crosswalk to the telephone pole), bordering the upper steps and Kindergarten playground, is for DROP OFF and PICK UP only! If you're a TK/K parent, please do not park in this area before school starts. It's still being used as a drop off area.

Next, it’s helpful to leave early enough, so your students can be dropped off between 8:30 and 8:40 a.m. When you enter the drop-off loop (especially the cone area), please ensure your students are ready to exit the vehicle. We have a large number of cars needing to get through in a timely fashion. If your child isn’t ready to get out of the car, this backs up traffic.

Lastly, its unsafe (and against the law) to double and triple park anywhere, especially along Kenneth Avenue. Law enforcement frequently tickets cars and will be out watching for violators.

The bottom line is that we want everyone to follow proper driving and parking rules, because it directly impacts student safety. Thank you for helping us move traffic along during drop-off and pick-up.
