Miss Vaughn's Class

Week of January 11-15

Hello Families and welcome back to the second half of 1st grade! We are so excited to jump right back into learning and growing at school! Thank you especially to all the parents who helped their students complete the homework over Winter Break!

Reading- We are working hard to keep up our ENGAGEMENT during our reading workshop this week. Engagement means that we are focused on our books, reading interesting material, and working to answer questions in our minds. Please keep reading and filling out the log each night! Ask your student what their goal is for reading in January!

Math- We are super pumped to be back to our Math Workshop in 1st grade. This unit is wrapping up and in Unit 7 we will be working on Subtraction Strategies! Please continue to complete the nightly homework!

Writing- We are finishing up our chapter books in writing and moving on to How To stories! Ask your student what they know how to do and the steps necessary to put it in to action!

Science/Social Studies- We are super excited to start learning all about history including Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and also about Living Communities!

Leader in ME!- We are so getting very excited about our Leadership Day in March. We are also focusing on carrying our own weather in times where it might be tough. Ask your child how they are choosing to be "sunny" or "cloudy".
