High School Information Night
Dear 8th Grade Families,
North Tapps Middle School is hosting its annual High School Information Night on January 5th, 2023, starting at 6:00 pm. This event is meant to help you decide which high school to attend and/or to give you more information about the high school you have already decided to attend. As you know, the Dieringer School District doesn’t have a high school which means each student gets to decide where to go. Our students may choose any school district in the state of Washington.
The event will start with an “open gym” time. This is where each school has a display and general information set up. At 6:30 we will transition into breakout sessions. Each breakout session will be 20 minutes with a total of 3 different sessions. You may stay for all 3 sessions or just attend 1 or 2 sessions.
It is strongly encouraged that all 8th graders with their parents attend this event, but 7th and 6th graders are also welcome!
The high schools that will be participating are listed below:
- Sumner HS "Showcase Night" January 9th at 6:00pm
- Bonney Lake HS "Showcase Night" January 10th at 6:00pm
- Auburn Riverside HS "Future Freshman Night" February 15th at 6:00pm
- White River HS "Future Hornets Night" February 15th at 6:00pm
- Bellarmine Prep-TBD
- Annie Wright-TBD
- Charles Wright-TBD
- Cascade Middle School-TBD

Message From the District Nurse
Respiratory Illnesses Increasing
Dieringer families, respiratory illnesses have been increasing these past few weeks. Flu activity is high in Pierce County and Washington State, as well as Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV). Additionally, Covid is still with us. Covid testing is recommended for symptoms of illness. Please let your child’s school know if your child tests positive for Covid.
Flu and Covid-19 vaccines are recommended for all individuals aged 6 months and above. Local urgent care centers and hospital emergency rooms are over capacity, and vaccines are one of the primary tools we have to prevent illness and maintain our hospitals’ ability to deliver care.
Here is information for parents about Flu from the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department, including where to get free children’s flu shots and immunizations: https://www.tpchd.org/healthy-people/flu/flu-and-children
Take these steps to reduce your chance of getting sick or infecting others:
Stay home if you’re sick.
Cover your coughs and sneezes with a tissue or your elbow.
Wash your hands often.
Consider wearing a mask around those most at risk.
