Principal's Corner
It is hard to believe we are almost halfway through the school year! Our students have been making so much progress and have come so far since the start of the school year. Thank you to everyone for supporting the many events we hosted this past month. It has been so nice to see our school community come back together.
We were excited to host our ESOL family engagement night last month. Check us out in the news! https://fredericksburg.com/news/local/education/event-aims-to-create-a-bridge-between-school-and-home-for-families-of-english-learners/article_4ad83137-e786-5927-93b9-819e4be57b29.html
We will have many exciting events this month! We have our literacy night and PTO Movie night this Friday! We hope you will join us for reading activities and the movie Elf. Make sure to join us tomorrow as well for a Sonic Spirit Night!
We can not thank you enough for your continued support of our school. We have had such amazing support through donations, event attendance, volunteers and participation. A message from our PTO
Thank you to all of those who participated in our Salsarita’s Spirit Night and Apex Fun Run! And, to the Veteran’s and families who participated in the Veteran’s Day Parade, thank you. It was amazing to see so many people celebrating those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.
Our Apex Fun Run raised nearly $8,000 to support our students, staff, and school. The PTO uses that money to help with staff appreciation luncheons, teacher classroom grants, COVID needs, and Wolf Pride celebrations, and other things our school needs. We could not have done that without each one of you. Thank you for coming out to support the students! We know they had a blast running the course with their teachers (past and present) and a cheering squad on their side. The last lap with families is always my favorite; we hope you enjoyed it too.
SAVE THE DATE! Sonic Spirit Night is Thursday, 2 Dec! Let us take care of dinner … The PTO will receive a portion of all sales at Sonic between 5 and 8 pm. Tell your friends! Invite the family! We hope to see you there!
SAVE THE DATE! It’s PTO Movie Night on Friday, 3 Dec! We’re showing ELF! Please join us in the gym around 7. Bring a blanket or chairs and plan to sit with your family unit. We’ll have concessions! And, it’s not too late to order your Family Dinner Pack. The order form was sent home the Friday before Fall Break and can also be found on the PTO FB Group page.
Finally, as we head into Winter Break and the half way point of this year, it’s time to celebrate the 12 Days Before Christmas Break! The PTO is assisting with four days this year and we need your help! Our 2nd Annual PTO Cookie Swap Banquet is scheduled for 10 Dec! Please bake or purchase a favorite treat (cookies, brownies, fudge, candy, nuts ... whatever your family enjoys) and drop it at school on 10 Dec. We'll have volunteers at Parent Pickup and at the front of the school to collect treats, then we'll set up a Cookie Banquet and invite staff to come in and select a dozen treats to take home for their holiday enjoyment. Please help us make this event special for our staff by clicking this link and signing up for planning purposes: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/70A0E4DACA92EA6FA7-2021
Thank you to Mrs. Carniol for the donation of assorted beverages as a Staff “Pick-Me-Up” on the November half day. If you’re interested in participating in our Staff “Pick-Me-Up” Donations in 2022, please reach out to us via cedarforestPTO@gmail.com. We have openings for January through May.
Thank you for your support of the CFES PTO! Without you, we couldn’t help our school!
Social Emotional Learning
As the holiday season approaches, December is a month filled with kindness and giving. But it is also a time to practice empathy as the holidays don’t look the same for everyone. Empathy is defined as the ability to understand and share the feelings of another. While the Holiday season can be a time of hope for many, for others it can be very challenging due to a variety of reasons. As a parent, you can use this time to teach your child empathy towards others to have as a skill beyond the holiday season as well. Check out this article for tips on how to do so!
Weis & Publix Partnership
House Program
Next week we will be holding a house meeting with each house. Blue house meeting will be on Monday, Red house on Tuesday, Orange house on Wednesday and Yellow house on Friday. Ask your students about the activities they completed as part of the house meetings!
This week, the Yellow House is in the lead! Take a moment to ask your student what house they are in, and how they show wolf pride at school!
