AEA Online Databases

Use this site for research you can trust. Why not just do a Google search? These resources have organized data for you so no more searching through pages of web results. The username can be found in your passbook.

For example, use Brittanica Online to research diseases and disorders or scientists and other science content.

Or use GALE to search for recent gene findings. There are a general science and health reference center categories under high school.


Gene integrates information from a wide range of species. A record may include nomenclature, Reference Sequences (RefSeqs), maps, pathways, variations, phenotypes, and links to genome-, phenotype-, and locus-specific resources worldwide.

BLAST: Basic Local Alignment Search Tool

The Basic Local Alignment Search Tool (BLAST) finds regions of local similarity between sequences. The program compares nucleotide or protein sequences to sequence databases and calculates the statistical significance of matches. BLAST can be used to infer functional and evolutionary relationships between sequences as well as help identify members of gene families.
