Day 9 Objective
Students will use dimes, nickels, and pennies to produce an amount given by counting the coins out loud to the teacher for the given amount.
Lesson
- Anticipatory Set
- The teacher will give students a set of dimes, nickels, and pennies.
- Students will be given a picture of a food item from a weekly grocery advertisement.
- Students will count the dimes by 10's, nickels by 5's, and then add on the pennies, counting by 1's, to find a number of coins that match the amount for the food item in the picture.
- Students will practice counting different amounts of dimes, nickels, and pennies to find coins needed to match the amount for 3 different food items in the advertisement.
