Principal's Point
Can you believe there are only 5 days until our winter break? They are going to go by very quickly, and we still have so much to do! Our scholars, teachers, and families have made education a priority this year and have been working diligently every day since the beginning of the school year and I know that we will finish this semester strong! Thank you so much to all our families for being so supportive this year and making so many things possible for our scholars. I hope you have a safe and healthy break while making lots of positive memories!
Assistant Principal's Piece
Regular school attendance is an essential part of a scholar's success starting in Pre-kindergarten and continuing through high school. Scholars who are absent from school miss out on learning. Improving scholar attendance is a key strategy to ensure they are on-track to learn and to reach their full potential. Parents and families play a key role in making sure scholars get to school every day and on time.
Did you know?
- Children who miss too many days in kindergarten and 1st grade are much less likely to read at grade level by the end of 3rd grade.
- By 6th grade, chronic absence is a proven early warning sign for children at risk for dropping out of school.
- In the 9th grade, school attendance is a better indicator than test scores of a scholar’s likelihood to graduate from high school.

News You Can Use
Reporting Cases of COVID-19
Please continue to keep scholars home if they are not feeling well and have symptoms that are associated with Covid-19. Reach out to our registrar, Erika Bryant, to alert her to your child's absence so that they absence can be excused. Please note that scholars who are absent for 3 days or more must return with a written excuse, preferably from a doctor. We thank you for doing your part to keep our school healthy. We, too, are working to keep everyone healthy and safe by minimizing touchpoints, limiting the sharing of materials, cleaning common areas more frequently, misting classrooms nightly, spacing scholars out in the cafeteria during lunch, having classes play in separate recess zones, reminding scholars to wash their hands for at least 20 seconds whenever they go to the restroom, frequently using hand sanitizer and keeping hand sanitizing stations located throughout the campus, having masks available to anyone who would like to wear one, and using bottle fillers instead of the water fountains.

Yearbooks for Sale!
Book Vending Machine FUNDED!
We are so excited to share that we will be getting our very own vending machine to add to our PBIS Signature Store! We can't wait for it to arrive on campus and for our scholars to start earning free books! And guess what? We raised enough money during our Read-A-Thon fundraiser to fully stock our book vending machine as soon as it arrives. We are on a mission to put a book in every scholar's hands and we are well on our way to meeting that goal. Thank you to everyone who donated to make this a reality!
Welcome Lunch Visitors!
1. The lunch visitor days are assigned in order to allow us to maintain safe distances in the cafeteria. Exceptions will not be made for visitors who come to have lunch with scholars on days other than those designated below.
2. Scholars will not be pulled from class to have lunch at a time other than their regular lunch time.
3. Teachers on duty in the cafeteria are not able to have parent conferences while they are on duty.
4. Parents/guardians may only bring outside food for their child(ren). Due to food allergies and dietary restrictions, food may not be shared with other scholars.
