What is an Internet Hoax?

A hoax is a deliberately fabricated falsehood made to masquerade as truth. It is distinguishable from errors in observation or judgment, or rumors, urban legends, pseudosciences or April Fools' Day events that are passed along in good faith by believers or as jokes.

Example of an Internet Hoax

This may look like the coolest picture you have ever seen. You might also be wondering how everyone ended up. The truth is that this picture is just two pictures that some Internet Hoaxers photoshoped together to make it seem like it was real. This picture had people talking all over the world until they found out it was fake.

How Internet Hoaxes affect people

Internet Hoaxes affect people in many ways, they give people false information which can mess with their personal lives. It can harm people who put a picture in a magizine because they said it was a real picture and they printed it. Come to find out it was a photo shopped picture and they would have to remove all the magazines, and lose a lot of money.

Have you ever been involved in an internet hoax?
