ILC You Online!
If you had told me a year ago that we'd be presented with a global pandemic that challenged us to teach and learn 100% remotely, I would have probably laughed it off and said that you watch too much TV. However, we were in fact presented with unique situations that challenged us to look beyond brick and mortar practices and fully integrate online tools whether we were ready or not. The library may have been physically closed, however this provided a great opportunity to showcase many of the amazing media tools that allowed us to collaborate and create. Check out all the wonderful things our library's e-programming offered during our district and campus closures.
Student Resources for Virtual Learning
The library was hard at work assisting with technical support and email credential access information. The library helped over 250+ students obtain their email information and offered a plethora of video tutorials on how to use various Microsoft and GSuite Apps. Our Wakelet collection of resources has been viewed over 780 times which means that our Escalante family made great use out of tools provided! Way to go, students and staff! If you need access to the collection, please click the image to be directed to the webpage.
Lunch & Learn Webinars w/ Mrs. Q. Wednesday's at 12pm
A HUGE shoutout to our amazing Escalante teachers for going above and beyond and participating in the weekly webinars and tech challenges that Mrs. Q. offered. Teachers were encouraged to participate in these learning opportunities for a chance to earn digital badges. Thank you for trusting me to help guide you through times of technical difficulties (literally) and joining me weekly to learn more about awesome tech and media tools for collaboration, curation, and creation! Don't forget that all resources have been curated on our library's / ILC (Information Learning Center) on Google Classroom specifically for staff.
BrainPOP 101 Workshop Region One Presenter
A special thank you to Dr. Laura Sheneman, Coordinator of Library Services and Instructional Resources for ESC 1, for allowing me to present on BrainPOP Educator tools and resources. I had a blast teaching educators from across the Rio Grande Valley on how to integrate BrainPOP & GSuite applications. We had over 100 educators in attendance!

JEMS Library Virtual Book Club
Let's get reading! Students who were interested in our virtual book club participated in the reading of the book One of Us is Lying by Karen McManus. We met weekly on Fridays at 12pm using Google Meet, played Kahoot! trivia, listened to the book's soundtrack on Spotify, and acted as detectives to try to solve the mystery! A huge thanks to our students for participating in this year's virtual book club and making the most out of our virtual situation!
May the 4th Be With You - Star Wars Day 2020
Celebrating Star Wars Day would NOT have been complete without Baby Yoda! Mrs. Q. went to Instagram Live on May 4th to offer a DIY tutorial on how to create your very own Origami Baby Yoda Bookmark. A recording of the tutorial was posted on social media outlets and on the library's Google Classroom stream. Thank you to everyone that attended. Check out all the cute bookmarks our participants made!

If you cannot print the form at home or the public library, please write down the books you read on a separate sheet of paper. Do not forget to access eBooks online from home using the Mackinvia or Epic Books apps. If you have any questions, please join the library's Google Classroom using the code k3nhtgu."
Professional Growth
As a library media specialist, I am always looking to refine my practice. I had the wonderful opportunity to participate and complete a 4-week course to become a Certified BrainPOP Educator, submitted my modules to become a certified EdPuzzle Coach, and I am now officially a Certified Screencastify Master AND Genius! I hope to continue with the implementation of these tools and tailor my future professional development for our campus to meet the needs of our students and staff.
