Newsletter Week of December 5, 2021

Dear NRHS Community,

I hope this message finds you well and enjoying your Sunday evening. I had the pleasure of spending time in the mountains of New Hampshire this weekend for my husband's birthday. Winter was definitely in the air with cold temperatures and snow!

Some announcements for this week:

  • Tuesday December 7th - Regular Covid Safety Check during long block. We are looking to increase the number of individuals testing to 200+ this week. Come to the lower gym during lunch - the process is quick and very easy to do!
  • Wednesday December 8th - Superintendent's Community Forum in the evening at the NRHS Library
  • Wednesday 12/8 - DECA Mock Competition
  • Friday December 10th - Picture Re-takes

We are well in the swing of winter sports and gearing up for our holiday concert on 12/15.

Have a wonderful week Nashoba!

A Message from the NRHS Health Office

Hello Nashoba Families,

This is a friendly reminder to continue to mask up in school and make sure that both nose and mouth are covered. We are seeing higher transmission rates in our state right now and we want to keep all of our staff and students safe and healthy and able to come to school. When someone tests positive for COVID, they are quarantined for 10 days. Please help us allow our students and staff to remain in the building. Thank you!

Also -- we are seeing a variety of viruses right now as well as COVID. If your child has any symptoms, please reach out to us and/or your health care provider to determine if testing is warranted. Please remember that symptoms of COVID mimic the common cold and many other illnesses. Some people are testing positive with only a runny nose/ congestion. Symptoms of COVID include headache, sore throat, cough, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, fatigue, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, body aches/ muscle aches, fever, chills, runny nose, congestion, and new loss of taste or smell. If your child is testing, please keep them home until test results are received.

Our goal is to keep all of our students and staff healthy and able to continue to come to school. Thank you for your cooperation and teamwork in this matter.

Wishing you all a healthy December,

Sarah DelConte Cosentino

Resource for Parents from BRYT

NRHS is partnering with BRYT (Bridge for Resilient Youth in Transition) out of Brookline, MA to create a program to support students returning to school from long term absences. One key component of the program is family engagement. While we are in the planning stages, the parent resources are open to all and free of charge. Below is information about the parent support groups and a video about supporting students return to school in what is still not a "normal" school year.

Pathway to Mask Optional at NRHS

On Tuesday 11/30 we begin day 2 of Routine COVID Safety Checks - formerly known as Pooled Testing. This is one means to potentially requesting to the Boards of Health to go Mask Optional at NRHS. We currently have close to 600 people (students and staff) who have opted in to the Safety Checks. We are conducting them during long block in the lower gym. The procedure is quick and easy and will provide critical information for the COVID dashboard which, combined with our high rate of vaccination, could provide a pathway to mask optional. I encourage everyone who has signed the consent to participate. Any questions, please contact the health office.
