Front Office Notes
Patriot Nation,
Good morning and Happy Labor Day! This school year is off to a great start ,and we continue to have a lot to be proud of. Our students and staff are always pushing the limit to what can be accomplished and praise at Seeger High School. This week we have some new additions to the newsletter: Weekly Teacher Feature by intern Ella Jernagan and our Team Spotlight by athletic department intern Thomas Lemming. They have been working with Mr. Wolfe to gather information about our staff, coaches, and teams. A huge shout out to them!
Tentatively we are looking to start our Staff-lead After School Tutoring Program. We look to begin on September 12 in the library. Like last year, this will be Tuesdays and Thursdays after school until about 5:30. Students need to sign-up in the library with Ms. Grimmett so we know how many and who to expect. The activity bus will be available to those who need it. Also, we ask the students stay until 5:30. If they are needing to be picked up prior to that, parents/guardians need to contact the school to inform us directly. Students will then need to be picked up outside of the front office.
Reminder to students and parents, if there is an activity or event after school, students must have staff supervision until the start of the event. We are starting to see many students attempting to stay until the start of an event, mainly football games, without any supervision. The later events will require students to head home then return at the start time. We also ask that students attending football games are not accessing or playing on the practice fields or near the concession stands. This is a safety concern and we want all of our students able to enjoy and watch the contests.
There is a blood drive happening this week with the help of Mrs. Perry and the CNA classes. Please see the QR code and flyer below.
Let's have another great week at SHS!
Best Regards,
Seeger Administration

Hello, my name is Carey Harris and I am the nurse for Seeger Jr.-Sr. High School. I just wanted to refresh kids and parents on some things that would help me best serve our student population.
-Please report any injuries your child has to Nurse Carey (765-893-4445 ext 2108). This is helpful for your child to have restrictions in place at school if they have a medical device such as crutches and/or a boot.
-If your child sustains an injury, I must get a letter of clearance once they are fully cleared to participate in PE and sports.
-If your child is an athlete, we do have an athletic trainer after school hours. They will not be permitted to see the trainer during class instruction time.
-If your child is sick at school, it is the expectation that you will have someone pick them up at Door 23 at the front of the school. They are not to attend any extra-curricular activities if they did not come to school due to an illness and cannot attend until they are 24 hours fever free without the use of Tylenol or Ibuprofen and have not experienced vomiting or diarrhea for 24 hours.
-Midol is available in the nursing office now and I will call/text you to get approval for it to be given for your daughter. If your child is allergic to Midol please reach out and let me know.
-Medications are to be stored in the nurse's office. This includes Tylenol, Ibuprofen, Midol, prescription medication, and medicated creams. If your child has a rescue inhaler an Asthma Action Plan must be updated with Nurse Carey. If your child has an Epi-Pen, your child must have a doctor's note to carry this on them.
-PE is required for our students. Please send appropriate hygiene products with your child. If this is an issue please let me know.
Thank you for trusting me take care of your children. It has been an amazing experience so far!

Academic Honors Awarded
Congratulations to Jett Collins on receiving his academic jacket and patch!
We would also like to congratulate Adara Austin, Marissa Rickey, and Tobias Cunningham for receiving their academic patches for the 2022-2023 school year.
To qualify, students must maintain all A's for 4 semesters!
Welcome to the Patriot Way’s Weekly Teacher Feature. Each week, we’ll choose a teacher or staff member and ask them some questions that probably wouldn’t come up in a typical class period so that you, our readers, can get to know them better.
This week we talked to Mrs. Hunter, who teaches AP Literature and 8th-grade Social Studies and has just returned to Seeger after 2 years away.
Mrs. Hunter informed us that she has a bucket list, one of her items being to travel to the Holy Land. She also told us that her favorite poem was "Invictus" by Ernest Henley.
If Mrs. Hunter could teach a class over anything, she would teach "Our National Parks Experience," an interactive class where students would travel across America’s National Parks, “camping, hiking, reading, exploring, & unplugging.” Speaking of unplugging, here’s a fact about Mrs. Hunter that she thought students would never guess. She’s been off of social media for nearly two years now! According to her, it was “the best decision ever!”

Cross-Country
The Boys and Girls Cross Country teams had huge performances this past weekend at the Tippecanoe Amphitheater in Lafayette! Facing 32 teams, including three of the top 10 in the State (no classes in XC), the girls placed 6th and the boys placed 14th. The girls team was one spot out of making the podium!
The entire team either had Personal Bests or Season Bests, with a few having massive drops in times.
On the Boys side, Ethan Guminski led the way with a 32nd place finish out of 190 runners with his first sub 17-minute performance (16:44). Jack Puterbaugh had a break-out performance by nearly breaking the 18 minute barrier!
On the Girls side, Hadessah Austin was the individual champion in the meet against 190 others! She was pushed for the first mile and took a commanding lead from then on! She broke her own school record and won by nearly 30 seconds! Emily Greene, Adara Austin and Hayden Frodge all had huge performances to help Dessie and Caleigh Purcell against this tough competition!

Come Join FFA!
Hey Patriots!! It’s your 2023-2024 FFA reporter, Jessi Switzer, here to give you all the information about upcoming events YOU can be a part of if you join FFA. Our next meeting will be this Wednesday, September 6th, at 6pm in Mr. Nickle’s room in the AG building. Our activity this month is highway cleanup which will also be held on September 6. This will start right after school and entails cleaning up any trash that is along the highway right in front of the school, which the FFA is in charge of. Bring gloves!! You can stay after the cleanup until the meeting if you would like. If you can’t make it to highway cleanup, that’s okay!! You can always still join us for our meeting! Food WILL be provided so come hungry!! Meeting should conclude around 7pm. If you have not filled out a membership form and are interested in joining FFA, please do so as soon as possible. Another fun thing coming up that you can do with the FFA is district kickoff. District kickoff is a great opportunity to meet other FFA members from all different schools. District kickoff is on September 21st and will be at Ivy Tech in Lafayette. More information on District kickoff will be discussed at September's chapter meeting, so if you are interested in going, talk to us then or by email as soon as possible .One of the best ways to get involved in FFA is by joining a team. There are 4 teams you can choose from when joining; the livestock judging team, forestry team, crops team and soils team. Right now, the forestry team, crops team and soils team are all ready to start practicing and looking for new members. You can get more information about these teams by coming to September’s meeting, or reaching out to Mrs. St. John or Ms. Crowder.
If you have any questions regarding FFA or district kickoff, please stop by the AG building and talk to Mr. Nickle or email any of the advisors or myself.
If you have any questions regarding the forestry, crops or soils teams, please contact Mrs. St. John or stop by and see Ms. Crowder in the AG building.
