Interview Challenge

Hilliard Middle-Senior High School students faced an Interview Challenge with local businesses. Since students were rated on their interview skills, this was an awesome opportunity to gain very important workforce and social skills. The interviewers were amazed by the student's intellect and knowledge of the interviewing process. Pictured are the interview candidates that would've been hired by the employers if they were hiring for real positions.

Read to Achieve

Mrs. Chesler's 9th grade English class at Yulee High School diligently worked to win the Achieve 3000 Read to Succeed school-wide contest. These students, along with the help of Mrs. Chesler and Ms. Ransom, worked on Achieve articles and questions to score the most points and successfully complete the articles.

Pirate Champs

The Fernandina Beach High School Winterguard traveled to Daytona Beach to compete in the Florida Federation Independent State Championship. With over 40 competitors, the FBHS Winterguard won the coveted 1st place trophy in the Circuit Class B Northeast Region with their show entitled, “Human.” The FBHS Winterguard has had an unprecedented season with four first-place competitions, as well as a Superior rating at the district and state level from the Florida Bandmasters Association. Congratulations!

Wildlight Elementary hosted their second annual STEAM night! It was a huge success incorporating all aspects of STEAM. Families participated in a variety of activities from making slime to Hungry Hungry Hippo Math to creating ART with catapults and Coach Pagel. They had many community sponsors host tables as well. What a wonderful night!

Future Educators Explore District Office

Big picture
Yulee High School's students enrolled in the dual enrollment course, Introduction to Education, recently visited the District Office. Along with their teacher, Mrs. VanDelinder, they had the opportunity to speak with directors regarding their responsibilities within their roles. It was a great experience for these future educators.

Reporting for Testing

Ms. Moore's 2nd-graders at Yulee Primary School were involved in B.O.O.T. camp. Ms. Moore's camp was designed for Building Outstanding Outrageous Test Takers. Students rose through the ranks by showing test-taking strategies, displaying positive attitudes, and being role model students. Ms. Moore's class celebrated the last day of B.O.O.T. camp by dressing up in all CAMO!

DARE Graduates

Olivia Drake and Carson Mitchell, from Callahan Middle School, encouraged DARE graduates at Bryceville Elementary School with a graduation encouragement speech. Sheriff Bill Leeper and Congressman John Rutherford also attended the graduation.
Fifth-grade students at Emma Love Hardee Elementary had the privilege to hear from Gary Powers Jr. He told his father’s story of being a spy pilot during the Cold War and discussed his recently published book, Spy Pilot. His father, Gary Powers Sr., was the pilot that Steven Spielberg's "Bridge of Spies" movie centered around.
