October 2021
Dear WSD Community,
The school year is off to a great start! It is hard to believe that it is already October. We have been back in school for over a month now, and our classrooms are buzzing with positive energy. Students are engaged in learning, and relationships are forming around every corner. Here is a glimpse of some of the great things happening inside our schools.

Problem-based learning (PBL)
Beaumont students in Laura Hornbacher's second-grade class are beginning their PBL journey by learning how to have a growth mindset, practicing perseverance, and showing kindness to others around them. Students are practicing this during social-emotional learning time, literacy, and math stations in the classroom each day. They are also applying their new skills out on the playground to help solve issues together. They are learning that when they come together collaboratively, they can learn so much from each other.
