Principal's Message
Congratulations to our 3rd grade students for successfully completing the Reading and Math EOGs last week. Thank you to all teachers who supported our 3rd graders with quality instruction during this year! Thank you to 3rd grade families for ensuring students were well rested and ready to take the test.
Please see the EOG testing information below for our 4th and 5th graders this upcoming week. We know our 4th & 5th graders will do their very best on the test!
As we approach the end of a most unusual school year, we would like to share information on the expectations for students to participate in end-of-year state testing. Unlike the Spring 2020, the Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) is expecting all students to take the following tests as is required by federal and state laws:
● End-of-grade tests in Reading (grades 3-8), Mathematics (grades 3-8), and Science (grades 5 and 8)
To support safe settings and to give students access to the tests, NCDPI has allowed schools to extend the testing window beyond the typical two weeks stated in law, if need be, so that fewer students are in the building at the same time to take those tests. We are using the flexibility provided by NCDPI, as needed, along with appropriate health and safety protocols, to ensure that state testing can occur safely.
Pleasant Union testing dates are:
● 4th Grade - June 7 and 8
● 5th Grade - June 9, 10, and 11
Should you have questions, please contact Mrs. Perry at kperry@wcpss.net or your child's teacher.
