Dear Cunningham Families
Click here for the Cunningham Cookbook!
Please share the Principal Video with students. We are running two themes this week. For students in Preschool - Grade 2, we would like to continue to support children and families in hospitals due to COVID by submitting pictures, poems, or cards. You can upload the student work to this folder, email it to cunnpictures@miltonps.org or drop it in the red bench on the main steps of Cunningham. Students in grades 3 - 5 can also submit work for the families in the hospital. However, if they want to participate in the Cunningham Talent Show, this is the week were are collecting the videos of the talent. All students in grades 3 - 5 can submit a video to the talent show by uploading it to this link or emailing cunnpictures@miltonps.org. The talent show will be held on the last day of school on June 23rd. All students will be invited to watch the show!
Mr. Lyons did a great Assembly for students about his work at Yellowstone National Park. As promised, here is a link to the video he did not have time to share with students. Enjoy!
We always like and appreciate the pictures and videos emailed to the cunnpictures@miltonps.org or uploaded directly to the weekly theme folder. This week's morning announcers will promote the talent show videos and drawings for families.
Remember to schedule in Specials (Art, Music, PE) this week. You can click here for the Weebly Site for links to the Specialist activities. Homeroom teachers may also share links directly with you as well.
It is the last week of May! Let's have a great week of learning.
All the Best,
Jon Redden

Parent Coffee PBIS (Positive Behaviors)
Last week we held our first PBIS parent coffee session. PBIS? What is PBIS? PBIS, or Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports, is a highly effective way to build children’s social-emotional behavioral skills and reduce challenging behavior. You may have heard the phrase that Cunningham Cougars are Respectful, Responsible, and Safe, or your child may have brought home red cougar paws for being caught having expected behaviors while we were physically in school. The Cunningham PBIS Team is here to help support families transition all the wonderful expected behaviors the children have learned in school, to your homes! Need support with structure? Is there a time of day where you want to lose your marbles because they just won’t listen? We are here to help! Come stop by our coffee hour for advice, and some listening ears!
The next PBIS Coffee is tomorrow, Tuesday at 3 pm. The link is below.

Special Education Update from Sue Maselli
Dear Families,
I hope this note continues to find you all well and safe during this extended closure. Rest assured I am working diligently on behalf of all our children and families to bring you up to the moment information about summer services (ESY) for children in Special Education. As you know, this past Monday, Governor Baker announced the beginning of a multiphase reopening for Massachusetts. I have learned that we can expect to hear from the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education on how this phase opening will impact summer ESY services. Because we are not fully aware of what this guidance will be, I wanted to let you know where we are in planning. We will continue to plan for multiple options: Full Remote Summer, Full In Person Summer and A Hybrid Program (where students have a combination of in person and remote services). Our goal, as I have stated, continues to be to begin ESY on July 6. .
Anticipating that town wide programs will not be available in the same capacity they have been in the past, we know how essential it for our most fragile students to have ESY supports and services, and I am working closely, with Bridget Rehenan the summer ESY Program DIrector, to secure staff and plan multiple options.
On Friday, the Associate Commissioner for Education, Russell Johnston, will host his weekly Special Education DIrectors Zoom Meeting. It is my hope he will provide this essential guidance this week so that MIlton can finalize preparations for summer. If your child receives ESY on his or her IEP you will receive detailed information about what summer programming "looks like" when we receive this crucial guidance from DESE.
As always, please be in touch with any questions.
Thank you and stay safe!

Milton Summer Enrichment/Camp Cunningham
Milton Summer Enrichment: Thank you for your patience as we have navigated the new guidelines and what that means for summer programming here in Milton. With local health department guidance still encouraging social distancing, it is apparent to us that gathering our outstanding group of MSE students will not be possible this summer and so we are canceling Milton Summer Enrichment for summer 2020. We are incredibly sorry to disappoint the students, families, Red Shirts and teachers with this news. MSE is a hallmark of summer in the Milton Community and we cannot wait to have everyone back in 2021!
With gratitude, Cat DesRoche and Ellen Lohan, MSE Directors
Camp Cunningham: Milton Community Schools would like to thank you for your patience as we all navigate through uncertain times. Due to safety limitations imposed by the government and health officials, we have determined that we can’t provide the same experience we had originally planned for Camp Cunningham. We have therefore made the difficult decision to cancel Camp Cunningham this summer. In our decision-making process, we acknowledged that with student and staff safety as the number one priority, MCS is not able to deliver a safe full day camp experience within the capacities and timeframe available to us. We are incredibly sorry to disappoint the students, families, and all the staff with this news. We appreciate how valuable Camp Cunningham is to the Milton Public Schools community and we cannot wait to have everyone back in Summer 2021!

Registration for entering Grade 6 and Grade 8
Please make sure that if you have a student entering grade 6 or grade 9 that you reestablish residency. You will need to do this even if you have not moved this summer. More details can be found at www.miltonps.org.
STUDENT REGISTRATION
During the School Closure, Registrar Sarina Burke will be registering students online when applicable. The Milton Public Schools will be accepting online registrations for students enrolling for:
- The remainder of the 2019 - 20 school year
- Kindergarten for the 2020 – 21 school year
- Students enrolled in private Kindergarten and wish to enroll their child in Grade 1 in the Milton Public schools for the 2020-2021 school year.
Please do not delay in registering your student in the above categories. As we plan for the 2020-21 school year, accurate numbers are important for staffing and logistics.
All other registrations for the school year 2020-2021 will be conducted in July and August 2020.
Internet Access (Comcast)
In addition to Comcast offering their service to low-income families for $9.95 a month (with 2 months free), https://www.internetessentials.com/ they are also offering all of their public hotspots for FREE! On any wireless device, if you look for available wifi, it's almost a certainty you'll see 'xfinity wifi' as an option. If you choose that option, a browser window will open. Typically, you need to log in with a valid Comcast account to get access to the Internet. But, now, you can just scroll down to the button that says 'Accept and Connect' and you're online.
You can see all the available hotspots in your neighborhood by going to https://wifi.xfinity.com/# and clicking 'Find a Hotspot'
Family Outreach Liaison

Whether you are unsure of how to connect with school staff or directly need a referral for services or supplies please don’t hesitate to reach out to Marti O’Keefe McKenna, MPS Family Outreach Liaison at 617-980-7343 or by email at mmckenna@miltonps.org. All calls and emails are confidential.
For additional resources, please reach out to the school psychologist Mrs. Simona Gizdarska (sgizdarska@miltonps.org).
