Habits at Home: Habit 7 - Sharpen the Saw: Achieve the Daily Private Victory
Just as a woodcutter sharpens his tool to do his work efficiently and effectively, we can do the same. We can enhance our greatest assets-our body, mind, heart, and soul. During high periods of stress, it can feel like there is not enough time. But self-care is not selfish or a luxury. The time we invest in ourselves to achieve our daily private victory will have a positive effect on our decisions and relationships.
Picture a tranquil pond, shaded with trees and fish swimming under the surface. Hear the gentle gurgle of flowing water. Feel the soft breeze on your face.
Then picture a stagnant pond. See the scum on the surface of the water. Hear the droning of mosquitoes and feel them biting your ankles. YUCH!
Our families and jobs need us to pour out to them. We are responsible to find out what fills us up and energizes us then making that a priority.
Nurse's Notes
Dear LSE Parents,
This week has been Teacher Appreciation and Nurses Day. LSE parents have taken over those roles with Academy Award winning performances! You all have been full time educators and nurses since mid-March. Not to mention conflict negotiators, nutritionists, personal trainers, screen time police, mental health counselors, and chief cooks and bottle washers. Doing all of this while Zooming with co-workers! Hopefully not backwards, and no need to wear high heels! I hope all LSE moms will have a fantastic day on Sunday. You deserve every over glued glittery homemade card and sticky hug. They make all the hard work worthwhile! And dads, I hope your day will be equally spectacular next month.
Please check out my website: http://schools.misd.org/page/MonicaLemke-Home
for links to the most recent info from CDC, TXDSHS , and Montgomery County.
I am available by email for individual questions and concerns.
