Week of February 17-20
Reading/Language Arts
This week we will be focusing on understanding how words roots help us to understand the meaning of other words, using text structure to support comprehension and extend background knowledge, and comparing and contrasting ideas from multiple text. We will also continue learning about different types of figurative language.
Unit 16 in spelling covers the suffixes -er, -est, -ed, -ing, -s, and -en. These inflectional endings change the grammatical form of a word.
We are beginning Unit 3 (Memoirs) for writing. Our focus will be on writing small (small moments) about BIG topics (themes). We will read literature to inspire our writing, choose a small moment to expand on, and work on elaboration strategies.
