A Letter from the Principal
We are pleased to have the opportunity to serve and work with your children.
Dear Parents or Guardians:
Next to the quest for peace, our nation's most important goal is the development of a high-quality educational enterprise that will prepare all youngsters for life in a fast-changing and complex world.
With this thought in mind, the philosophy and the attitude of our stakeholders become rather important. I was reminded of this during a recent visit to a thriving business establishment.
While waiting in line, I noticed an interesting philosophy posted on a wall. It was especially stimulating because the employees obviously subscribed to the message. I believe the philosophy is as appropriate to schools as it is to businesses, and I have chosen to substitute the word student for customer and school for business.
A student is the most important person in any school.
A student is not an interruption of our work—he or she is the purpose of it.
A student is not just a statistic. He or she is a flesh-and-blood human being with feelings and emotions like ourselves.
A student is one who comes to us with needs and/or wants. It is our job to fill them.
A student is deserving of the most courteous and attentive treatment that we can provide.
A student is the lifeblood of this and every other school. Without him or her, we would have to close our doors.
The focus of the future should be on service and excellence. We are pleased, as employees of Stockbridge High School, to have the opportunity to serve and work with your children. The importance of teaching and learning cannot be overstated. It is our privilege and our challenge as educators to strive continually to provide quality education in our classrooms.

Best Practices Tip
Becoming a Self-Advocate
The video above showcases our very own SHS student, Paris P. in teaching Mr. Amun's Precalculus class. Students voiced that they needed a bit more review before the exam. Paris stepped up and volunteered to teach the class!
It is in moments like this at Stockbridge High School that we are reminded of the caliber of students we have and the opportunities that we have everyday to make a difference in the lives of others. As a self advocate for her education, the student above showed mastery while helping those in need. Monday's advisory lesson will focus on Becoming a Self-Advocate. We will take the previous "blames" that the students most commonly use and put a stop to these excuses. We will be utilizing the Stockbridge Study Resources Sheet (Teacher created through our staff book studies!) to match up a blame with an available resource to defeat the blame. Since progress report grades are around the corner, this lesson will also segue into the Advisors beginning to start checking on their students' progress in Stockbridge High. That's what family does--a Tiger family at that.
Tiger Tech of the Month: Quizizz
Kahoot tunes annoying you by now? Is it on replay on your mind? Try Quizizz!
Here's the gist of Quizizz:
1. Same as always, create an account.
2. Quizizz will ask for your occupation (to customize your home screen).
3. The screen will change to sample quizzes you could readily use!
4. Assign it and have fun! THAT'S IT!
WHAT:
- Use Quizizz to assign quiz formative assessments to your students.
- Students can take the assessment as many times as they can and it keeps track of their progress.
- Students can compete with each other without having to be logged in together all at the same time.
- Quizizz inserts memes and generates personalized avatars for the students to make it a bit more fun.
