The Start of Jumps & Bumps 2016 Season
This weekend we geared up for our new and returning members to Jumps and Bumps.
We leave the village at 9am and head over to the top of the air bag for games and warm up. If you find yourself late please text Wade 250-550-5322. Or bring your child over to the top of air bag site. We go over via the magic carpet. Groups will return to the meeting point at 12pm.
Here is a list of things we need to do and be ready for at the beginning of the first J&B's session:

Time is flying and so are is the Silver Star Freestyle Ski Club. May everyone be healthy, happy and prosperous in 2016.
We hosted the “Club Coach” course just prior to Christmas. The Silver Start club recruited 7 new coaches for this season. The Silver Star Freestyle Club also did a safety training session with coaches to ensure our children are taken care of in the best way. It was great to find out that Silver Star has some of the best access to first aid and care of any ski hill in BC. They have an excellent track record in being able to assist those that do find them self in need of patrol.
Since the start of the season Competitive Team has trained over 15 days. The athletes have put in a good effort so far this season. The comp. teams have had about 55-60 training/competing in free-skiing, park, moguls and air planned for this season. The teams are also hard at work in front of the camera. We are looking forward to seeing some amazing edits!
Eighteen very cool girls started up with the Clubs G-team program on December 19th. The girls are working with their coaches on skiing improvements and having tons of fun. The girls are very excited to start hitting all of what Silver Star has to offer this season.
The Snowboard Team is back and looking good. A lot of familiar faces. New this year is the Can Snowboard Riders program curriculum. This partnership gives coaches tools they can use to help improve the riders skill set. The club is so pumped to have a snowboard program it has re-designed its logo. If you know a snowboarder interested in Freestyle let them know about this amazing program!
The Development Team program is going very well with a plenty of focus on free-skiing and basic skill so far to date. As we head into the Super Youth Competition at Apex the coaches have taken a more competitive focus implementing some competition simulations and building for success. These kids seem to be having a great deal of FUN!
The Competitive Freestylerz have been getting a lot of skiing all over the mountain. With a lot of new faces the coaches are focusing on building skills before attending competitions near the end of the season. The laid back freestyle skiers are ripping it up too. At a little slower pace they get to learn the same freestyle ski skills.
See you on the slopes.

SILVER STAR MOUNTAIN SNOW REPORT
Buy-Low Foods is a privately held company purchased by The Jim Pattison Group, Vancouver, British Columbia in 1995. The company was originally founded in 1966 with the first store opening at Arbutus Street & 16th Avenue in Vancouver.
Buy-Low Foods is the largest food wholesale distributor to independents in Canada, servicing nearly 1,800 supermarket, convenience and specialty produce markets. With 24 corporate and franchise supermarkets, Buy-Low Foods also provides quality products at low, low prices directly to consumers in communities throughout British Columbia and Alberta. Each store is unique, but shares one thing in common: a commitment to delivering great quality products at low, low food prices.
Buy-Low Foods banner is committed to delivering the best prices everyday on products that matter to customers the most. Buy-Low Foods is committed to delivering great value to every community through all of its retail operations.
A look at Vernon's Buy-Low Foods
His Grampa carried on the family tradition and then his father after that. At 11 years old Rick started to work for his own father and today he owns one of the few remaining franchises of Buy-Low Foods which he built in 1997. The store names may have changed but the Christensen's traditions haven't.
Rick prides his store on their friendly staff that come with local knowledge and local experience. He has Manager's in the store today that have been with the family business for over 35 years. When asked about his staff, Rick couldn't be happier to say he has the best staff in town with over 45 people calling Buy-Low a great place to work.
For such a small store, Buy-Low Foods in Vernon is a pretty busy place. Rick has turned this store into the number one wholesale customer for Buy-Low Foods in Canada. They carry a large mix of products and are always happy to special order in anything new you may be looking for. It's this focus on service and their amazing location that makes them not only convenient but a friendly place to shop.
A huge part of their tradition includes the community and helping many local organizations. In fact, I personally have witnessed Rick's passion for giving back as he darted across town delivering to 3 different fundraisers in one morning. The store supports Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation and their Auxilary as well as many of the valley's school's and sports associations. He loves giving back to kids and families in the area.
Buy-Low advertises locally in the Vernon Morning Star in print and with distribution of their store flyer as well as on the Buy-Low Coporate website every week.
DID YOU KNOW.....
All of our stores and staff are committed to supporting the communities in which we live and do business. We have been involved in community support for over 40 years.
On a store level we invite our shoppers to discuss opportunities that we can get involved in together to support fundraising and projects. We are involved in assisting schools in adding equipment, protection of historic sites, providing meeting rooms for volunteer organizations, holding hot dog sales for sports teams, school bands and local clubs.
As a company, each year we make a major contribution to Variety - the children’s charity through our programs, "Kids in the Park", "Variety Vintage Market" and, our annual Retailer/Supplier Golf Tournament. We are committed to the communities we service.
