May Parent Newsletter
As we anticipate a busy month in May, let’s remind ourselves to take time and re-discover the many moments which brought joy and grace into our lives this past year as we dealt with a worldwide pandemic. It was a school year like no other, but I’ve been so fortunate to experience these precious moments with your children over the past year. For that, I am so very grateful. I wish each of you well as you begin your summer and welcome the 2021-2022 school year with renewed energy.
The week ahead is Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week. It has pretty much been the toughest year for teachers ever. So this #teacherAppreciationWeek should be the biggest, loudest, grandest showering of recognition for teachers ever! Most of our teachers have taught both in-class instruction while also giving instruction to distance learners at the same time! They are superheroes! While we will be celebrating them here at school, if you get a chance to write them a note or have your child enter the contest (flyer below) for Teacher Appreciation Week, I know it would mean so much to our staff who work tirelessly for your kids every day!
We want to give our students something special this year to let them know how much we appreciate them and the job they did in helping keep our school healthy. COVID was not only tough on the adults but on many of our students as well. It was a great lesson in strength and flexibility. Our Middle School students will be treated to a visit from Hunter Pinke, a UND Football player who suffered a spinal injury. Hunter will share his motivational story. The younger grades will have a "bouncy house fun day" the last week of school thanks to PTO! (see flyers below)
Thanks for working with us this year to keep our students and your family healthy. I am hopeful we can begin to see some "normalcy" again this Fall. Our students have been a great example of "resiliency" and were able to adapt to our new "COVID" way of life this year in an extraordinary way! Even though our job is to teach kids ~ many times, they teach us a thing or two, too!
The last day of school for students is on Thursday, May 20th. We will be dismissing at 1:00 p.m. We will resume school on Thursday, August 26th. The new school calendar for 2021-2022 can be found at the end of this newsletter, or on our school website at https://www.manvel.k12.nd.us/
We will no longer have "late starts" next year, instead, we will have full days of professional development for teachers. We hope this will make scheduling easier for families!
Have a restful and relaxing Summer!

Boxtops for Education & Hugo's Essential brand
Manvel School is still able to collect money from Boxtops for Education with products made in 2021, 2022 & 2023 (after that, it will be totally digital with the Boxtops for Education App). Please continue to cut these out and send them to school.
We can also earn money from UPC labels for the collection of Hugo's Essential brands or Super Chill soda that have replaced the Our Family brand.
Feel free to send these to school with your child, or use the Boxtops for Education App ~ website, and information is attached below. Thanks for your support ~ and thanks to Mary Ellen Balek for overseeing this effort!
