Gifted and Talented Nominations
Hawkins ISD is beginning the referral process for Gifted & Talented services for the 2020–2021 school year. We are committed to providing challenging learning experiences for students with exceptional intellectual and creative thinking abilities.
Anyone wishing to refer a student attending Hawkins ISD in first through 5th grade can request a copy of the referral form by emailing the counselor at erica.mayfield@hawkinsisd.org This form must be returned to the school by October 1, 2020.

Procedures for Students Who Go Into Quarantine
- Homeroom teacher will contact virtual teacher and communicate the extended dates the student will be absent
- Virtual teacher will make the homeroom teacher a co-teacher for the extended period of time the student will be at home.
- Virtual teacher will push out the lessons for the student
- Homeroom teacher will be responsible for parent contact, grading and attendance (hence the purpose of becoming a co-teacher in the LMS platform). If you need help in how to access the student's virtual attendance and activities please collaborate with the virtual teacher

Message from Jennifer Browning Art & Writing Contest for Veterans Day
We will be hosting an Art and Writing contest for Veterans Day. We will be sending home the attached flyer with students tomorrow. All entries are due by October 20th so that we may have enough time to judge them.
The Art Contest will award prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each division. Art divisions will be PK/K, 1st/2nd, and 3rd - 5th grade. Winners artwork will also be entered into a contest in Kilgore where they can win additional prizes.
The Writing Contest will award prizes for 1st place in each division. The writing contest will be for 1st/2nd and 3rd - 5th grade. Students may enter an essay, poem or a letter to a service member or a Veteran (26 lines or less). The 1st place winners will read their writing entry for the Veterans Assembly.
If a student turns in their entry to you, please send it in to Mrs. Salinas with the students name on the back. If you have any questions, please let me know.
