Over the next few weeks we will be working on Reading Strategies! Be listening for new strategies in nightly reading.

Weekly reading homework:

Students are to read for 20 minutes each night. They will write the Title (s) and pages read. This week they are writing what WORD ATTACK strategies they used during reading! Parents need to sign off each night! Please have your students keep their reading recording sheet in their GREEN GO Folder. That way I can see if they are doing the reading each night. Please make sure that the students are filling in their reading log!

Our goal this week is to pick a small moment to write about. We will go through the process of picking a moment, writing, editing, and publishing. This may take us awhile to complete but I am hoping to have these ready for conferences!

We will start working on sort (o). I decided to keep the sorts at school for the time being! :)

The words for this week are: very, me, back, give, most

This week we will continue to work on place value up to 1000.

Miss Mitchell

  • I will send out newsletters on Sunday evening
  • I always check my email in the morning, during the day, and in the evening
  • If you leave a message for me, I will return it during my prep time (1:35-2:15) or after 4 PM
  • Please send all transportation changes in writing if you can
  • If you do not get a reply e-mail from me about transportation, please call the school. I do not always get the chance to read emails right away or I could be absent

COUPONS!!! Students have started to earn in class coupons. They get them for: positive behavior, doing the right thing, following class rules, etc.

Coupons include: bring a snack the next day, drink water from a straw, teachers assistant, pick a seat, hat for a day, no shoes, sugar free gum (in my class only), scholastic book, no homework pass, late homework pass, teacher/ student sings a song or dances, etc.

Scholastic Book Coupons: I only order 1 time a month. Students who get this coupon will be able to place an order at some point in the month.

Lunch with the teacher: I do not have recess duty on Tuesdays and Fridays. Those are the days that students with coupons will eat with me. That way we are not rushing and can have real conversations!

They have been so excited to earn coupons! YAY POSITIVE BEHAVIOR!
