Federal Court System and Different Levels and Responsibilities of Each Level
The Federal Court System hears cases that involve Constitutionality of a law.
Levels:
District Courts- a state of Federal trial court
Circuit Courts-a court that sits in more than one place in a judicial district
Supreme Court of the United States-has the power to decide appeals on all cases brought in federal court
Types of Jurisdiction
- Cases in which the United States is a party
- Cases involving violations of the U.S. Constitution or federal laws
- Cases between citizens of different states if the amount in controversy exceeds $75,000 (under diversity jurisdiction)
