MyStopp App
School bus delays can be caused by weather conditions, road closures, and more. U-46 parents and guardians with children who ride U-46 buses are urged to download the Versatrans “My Stop” app so that they can see, in real time, the location of their child’s school bus.
Here are step-by-step instructions on how to download the app to your smartphone, sign in, and navigate the app.
Note for Android users: If you downloaded the app before Nov. 1, 2022, please re-download it. Versatrans recently made some updates to ensure the app performs optimally for Android devices
No Parking on Mayflower Lane
Please do not park on Mayflower Lane across from the school by the east side parking lot. All traffic turning left into the parking lot should hug the center line to allow for the curb side to be open for thru traffic.
Parking Lot Safety
If you are driving your student to school for the safety of everyone PLEASE park on the school side of the streets bordering Prairieview (Mayflower, Beaumont, and Superior Circle). This helps with traffic around our school during arrival and dismissal. Parking on the streets opposite the school encourages students to dart out from their car and that puts lives at risk.
If you would like to drop off your student at the curb, please see the attached aerial image of our parking lot. If coming from the East Side of the subdivision, and turning left into the lot, hug the yellow center lines. This will give other drivers the opportunity to use the curb lane as through traffic.
As you enter the EAST lot from Mayflower, hug the curb and pull all the way up. Please be sure your child(ren) exit on the passenger side. Please note that as you exit the East lot it is RIGHT TURN ONLY. Beaumont Circle is a horseshoe shape and will take you back out to Mayflower as well.
These rules are in place for many reasons but most importantly to keep everyone safe.
Fingerprinting required for all volunteers
If you would like to volunteer to help in the school or on field trips, U-46 requires you to be fingerprinted and have a background check done. Please email AprildeHaan@u-46.org to complete the paperwork. Please note, fingerprinting is done by appointment only at the district office in Elgin. HR will contact you to set up your appointment.
From the Nurse
Important Information from the Nurse: Please Read
Invasive Group A Strep Infections (iGAS):
IDPH has reported a significant increase of invasive strep infections. When someone has a
Strep (GAS) infection, such as strep throat or impetigo, and it is left untreated, it can become an
invasive infection-invading the lungs, blood or layers of tissue (pneumonia, sepsis, necrotizing
fasciitis, streptococcal toxic shock syndrome). Due to this increase in iGAS infections we ask
that you are diligent in taking your student to the doctor/having them tested if they exhibit any
strep related symptoms. If positive for strep please notify me right away. Your student can then
return to school after being on antibiotics and fever free for 24 hours. Symptoms include sore
throat, headache, fever, rash, dizziness and stomach ache. Early detection and getting
antibiotics onboard are crucial in preventing severe complications. Hand hygiene is a critical
component to prevention of spread and infection so please relay this to your students. Please
urge them to perform proper hand washing techniques (minimum of 20 seconds of scrubbing),
keeping their hands out of their mouths/off their faces as much as possible and not sharing
drinks or utensils. Any strep positive reports I receive will allow me to have classrooms, high
traffic areas, and touch surfaces disinfected properly to prevent further spread.
COVID Protocol: I know there is some confusion with the COVID policies and protocol. If your
student exhibits ONE or more symptom(s) of COVID we have to initiate the protocol. Symptoms
include headache, muscle aches, fever/chills, cough, nausea/stomach ache, vomiting, diarrhea,
shortness of breath/difficulty breathing, loss of taste and/or smell and sore throat. For the
COVID protocol we need the at-home COVID testing form completed or a negative result from
your doctor (not just a doctor’s note saying they were seen and can return on any specific date)
for us to be able to clear out the report. If you choose not to test OR if your child tests positive
then they can return to school on day 6 with a mask or day 11 without a mask. When you
receive the email and/or form with dates listed on them that is ONLY for a positive result or if
you decide not to test at all. I do have at-home COVID tests that I can provide for you at no cost
upon request. We are trying to accommodate you by providing everything you need to expedite
the process and make it as convenient as possible. I understand it can be tedious and I truly
appreciate your cooperation, patience and understanding. PLEASE reach out to me for any
questions or concerns that you may have.
Standard Protocol: If your child has a fever (100.4 or higher), is vomiting or has diarrhea they
MUST stay home until they are 24 hours without these symptoms and without medication.
There is a significant rise in GI illness and it is very important that we keep these germs home
as they are extremely contagious. PLEASE make sure we are all doing our part to keep anyone
with a fever, vomiting and/or diarrhea out of the school to prevent the spread of infection. With
accurate reports of GI symptoms, I can have special deep cleaning done to prevent further
spread. Also, If your student tests positive for influenza or RSV then the standard protocol is all
you need to follow to return.
When keeping your student home from school PLEASE call/email including all the symptoms
they are experiencing, when they started, whether or not you need an at-home COVID test, and
if you will be taking your student to see the doctor. If your child sees a doctor please let me
know all of the results (flu, RSV, strep- not just COVID) as we are keeping track of these
illnesses as well.
I know this is a lot of information, please just know that I am here for any questions or concerns
you may have and my door is always open. I truly appreciate your collaboration with me to
provide the healthiest, safest environment possible for our community!

Care Solace: Free Mental Health Service
U-46 has partnered with Care Solace, a mental health care coordination service, to better connect students, staff, and their families to quality care. This is a free resource provided by U-46. If you are looking for help with mental health or substance use, Care Solace will quickly and confidentially find available partners matched to your needs. Students, staff, and families may access Care Solace in two ways: Call 888-515-0595 at any time. A Care Solace coordinator will help you research options, secure appointments, and follow up to make sure it is a good fit. An alternative is to visit caresolace.com/u46 to answer a few questions and get matched with an extensive list of care providers. The website also has more information about Care Solace’s relationship with community partners, how it keeps information confidential and securely stored, and more.
