During the morning of Monday, June 1st, a simulated crisis will occur on the Chariho campus. The simulation will impact only a small area of the campus, but the response (i.e., evacuation, lock down) may involve students in all of the Chariho schools. Most importantly, the simulation will allow law enforcement and emergency response agencies from Charlestown, Richmond and Hopkinton, and the State Police, to practice a coordinated response to the Campus. It will also allow schools to test their crisis plans, including interaction with law enforcement and emergency response agencies.

To alert all members of the school community, the Superintended of Schools will use the automated phone system to communicate information about the crisis simulation on the weekend before the event. Parents/Guardians who have questions should contact me via email or phone.

Please do not send your child to school in flip-flops. They are very dangerous for play at recess and are difficult to walk in during emergency drills.

The final stretch for 2014-2015

We have three weeks remaining until the end of the year. Please help to keep your child in their routines, such as getting to bed early and completing required homework. We know that this becomes challenging as we end the year. This final stretch is very important for our students as we teach remaining content and prepare them for their next academic year.

Teachers are working on student placement. Your child's current grade level teachers make placement recommendations for the next school year. Other staff members, including myself, review these recommendations and work cooperatively to make thoughtful placements for ALL children. We consider the strengths, needs and personality of each student. This process is very important to us. Class assignments will likely be noted on end of year report cards. We are still waiting for final staffing assignments, so hopefully these will be made before the end of June.

Lunch Balances and Sunny Butter Policy

If your child owes more than $5.00 on their lunch account, they will only be able to select Sunny Butter Sandwich, sides and milk for lunch. Please help us to avoid tears in the lunch line. If you have questions about your child's account, please contact Aramark or review your child's online account. Please contact me if you need financial assistance, such as a payment plan.

Lost and Found Items

Please check the lost and found shelves that are located outside of the Cafeteria.

We donate all remaining clothing to a local charity at the end of June.

School Safety Drills

We will soon be practicing our Evacuation Drill. Students will have to walk a far distance during this drill. Appropriate footwear is needed. Flip flops and sandals with heels are difficult to walk in during these drills and are a danger during play at recess.

Please call us about Kindergarten Registration.
