○ Show your kindness school spirit and dress out in all of your Trojan attire by wearing your favorite Daphne Middle School spirit t-shirt with uniform bottoms.*

Kind-Hearted - Tuesday

○ Show you have a kind heart by wearing RED.*

Wake up Kind - Wednesday

○ Wake up, come to school in your favorite sweatpants or pajama bottoms. (Tops should remain in uniform.)*

Win or Lose, Kindness is always the way to go! - Thursday

○ Dress out and where your favorite team attire.*

○ Be yourself and wear what makes you, YOU! Today we remember that kindness comes from who we are on the inside. Plan ahead and wear your favorite uniform pieces. Dress up or down, just make sure you feel like the best you.*


*Students must adhere to the uniform policy unless otherwise stated. Shoes should be closed toe and adhere to the uniform policy every day; out of uniform shoes causes a safety hazard. Students should come to school attired in age appropriate, non-distracting attire. This includes no inappropriate sayings, images, or messages. Face and/or body paint is not allowed. Bottoms should be fingertip length, and tops must cover the shoulder, stomach, and back.

Restaurant of the Week

The most recent and talked about restaurant is Newk's Eatery. Newk's serves everything from pizza to salads and its not very expensive. It is located in the Eastern Shore Center.

MEET MRS. PEAK

Librarian at Daphne Middle School


What inspired you to be a teacher?

Mrs. Peak loves to read and help people. She also loves technology which all rolled into one job.


Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

She is going to still be a librarian because she loves it at DMS.


What is your favorite thing about summers?

Mrs. Peak's favorite thing about summers is the time with family.


What has been your biggest challenge from being a librarian?

She said helping those who don't like to read and trying to find a book that will help them read.


What are your hobbies outside of being a librarian?

Mrs. Peak said she likes doing fun activities with her kids, likes watching movies, plays, concerts, reading, and traveling.

WINTER DANCE

  • What? The First Ever Daphne Middle School Winter Dance
  • When? Saturday January 23, 2015 6 p.m - 9 p.m
  • Where? Daphne Civic Center
  • Dress code? Semi-formal party dresses for ladies and Sunday best for the gentlemen
  • DMS STUDENTS ONLY
  • Cost includes admission, professional DJ for your entertainment, door prizes, and a full dinner to include but not limited to: pulled pork sliders, mac and cheese cups, loaded mashed potatoes, chicken tenders, mini subs, fruit, veggies, cheese, dessert table, tea, punch, water and a hot chocolate bar.

Boxtops!

Daphne Middle School particpates in the Boxtops for Education program, which means we collect Boxtop coupons! Two times in the school year, we will send in our boxtops, and the company sends us a check for the Library! Boxtops can be turned in to the Library, or to the school office. Bring as many as you can!

Recipe of the week


Dessert Crepes


  • 4 eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1 1/3 cups milk
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons white sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Add all ingredients to list


Directions


  • Prep

    10 minutes

  • Cook

    10 minutes

  • Ready In

    20 minutes


  1. In large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, melted butter, flour sugar and salt until smooth.
  2. Heat a medium-sized skillet or crepe pan over medium heat. Grease pan with a small amount of butter or oil applied with a brush or paper towel. Using a serving spoon or small ladle, spoon about 3 tablespoons crepe batter into hot pan, tilting the pan so that bottom surface is evenly coated. Cook over medium heat, 1 to 2 minutes on a side, or until golden brown. Serve immediately.

Fashion Trends

A new fashion trend this week is: winged sunglasses. These are sunglasses that come in different colors and shapes. The reason they call them "winged" sunglasses is because they have a wing at the top corner.

Basketball Game

On Thursday, Daphne beat Fairhope for their last game. Both the boys and girls basketball teams played great!! Next is the Championship! Let's bring the first place trophy home!

Audrey Hillis Athlete of the Week

Audrey Hillis is a very talented softball player that plays for DMS and is very good at blocking the ball. She thinks that they are going to do very well year and are going to be doing a dodgeball tournament to raise money for their team. They will be separating the team and will be playing dodgeball against eachother.
