Alignment of TN Special Education Framework with Content Standards
The U.S. Department of Education (USED) issued guidance at http://www2.ed.gov/policy/speced/guid/idea/memosdcltrs/guidance-on-fape-11-17-2015.pdf in an effort to ensure that children with disabilities are held to high expectations and have meaningful access to a state's academic content standards. The new guidance states that an individualized education program (IEP) for an eligible child with a disability under IDEA must be aligned with the state's academic content standards for the grade in which the student is enrolled.

I recently went on a spending spree with Teacher Pay Teacher. I purchased several Reading Comprehension resources and a few other odds and ends. I already have some favorites that if you would like for me to share with you I will be happy to. Here are my favorites!
Night to Shine Special Needs Prom
Friday, Feb. 12th, 6pm
Longview Point Baptist Church, Byhalia Road, Hernando, MS, United States & Hope Presbyterian
Volunteers are needed, but, background checks are required. Deadline for volunteers is February 1.
The latest information we have says that we should hear something sometime in January.
So, we are planning to continue just as we have been. Portfolios will be due to Central Office by the end of the school day on the following dates:
2nd grade - February 19, 2016
3rd grade and up - February 5, 2016
If we receive any information from the state before that time, we will be sure to pass on the information.
All students are benchmarked on Grade level. The results of the benchmark determine which grade level to use for progress monitoring.
Progress Monitoring for Students in Special Education
- Students in Tier 1 or 2 will be progress monitored ON GRADE LEVEL in their identified area of exceptionality.
- Students in Tier 3 will be progress monitored on their INSTRUCTIONAL LEVEL in their area of exceptionality.
