Exams and Celebrations Wrap Up First Semester at CMS

As we mentioned several weeks ago, final exams will be held this week at Corner Middle School. The schedule is in the graphic below. CMS families are reminded that this exam counts as a major test grade in the Power School Gradebook. It is important students have studied and come to take the exams. Students who miss the exams will be able to make up missed exams on Friday, December 17th.

On Tuesday at 2:15, we will hold our last pep rally of the year as the basketball teams close out their seasons against Oak Grove at home on Tuesday night beginning at 5:00. Due to COVID restrictions, we have limited the number of visitors to activities during school. As we restrictions have changed, everyone who would like to come is welcome to attend the pep rally on Tuesday.

Also this week, grade levels will be holding their Christmas celebrations. Student celebrations will begin at 8:30 in the designated grade level areas:

5th Grade - Library

6th Grade - Burtram Gym

7th Grade - The Barn

8th Grade - Competition Gym Lobby

This activity is for students and teacher only and should end by 10:30. Any family wishing to check their student out after the celebrations may do so, however, students should make sure they have completed ALL exams before leaving or they will be assigned a zero.

We look forward to a great last week as we close out the first semester!

CHS Leadership Meets with CMS 8th Grade Regarding Signature Academies

Last week, Mr. Pat Keedy, the principal at Corner High School, and his administrative and counseling team for meeting with the 8th grade class at Corner Middle School to discuss the Signature Academies as they begin the process of transitioning into their high school journeys.
The Signature Academies are a part of the Jefferson County Board of Education's strategic plan to offer additional educational opportunities to students all across the district. Beginning in the fall of 2022, students who attend Corner High School will have the chance to do coursework at three other Jefferson County Schools in the Western Zone that offer programs not offered at CHS while still being enrolled as a student at their home school.

The graphics below list the current educational opportunities in the Western Zone. Thank you to Mr. Keedy and his team for sharing this information with our students who will be moving to Corner High School at the end of the school year!
