National Blue Ribbon Award Ceremony
Saint Catharine School is recognized at 3:35:12 (timestamp)
Dear SCS Family,
Msgr. Cullen and I have recently returned from the National Blue Ribbon Award presentation in Washington, D.C. where our school was recognized as an Exemplary High Performing National Blue Ribbon School along with 48 other non-public schools. There are over 34,000 non-public schools in our country, leaving less than 1% of all non-public schools the opportunity to achieve this national recognition each year.
Msgr. Cullen and I would like to invite you to a very special First Friday Mass scheduled for Friday, December 7th at 9:00 AM in the SCS gymnasium. We will have a special presentation of our National Blue Ribbon award, as well as the raising of our National Blue Ribbon School flag. After Mass, parents are welcomed to stay and join us for brunch in our cafeteria. We are planning a special surprise activity for our students that afternoon to continue the celebration of our award.
In recognition of our school’s award, Msgr. Cullen has granted a Pastor’s Holiday for Monday, November 26th. School will be closed and all school activities have been canceled and will be rescheduled for a future date.
We recognize that the National Blue Ribbon School Award is reflective of our students’ outstanding achievements, as well as our hard working team of faculty and staff at St. Catharine School. Reaching this goal would not be possible without the collective efforts of our dedicated school families, alumni, parishioners, the PTA, and our School Advisory Council. It’s truly incredible how much we are able to accomplish with the support of our school community!

Model UN at CBA
On Friday, November 2nd, several of our students participated in the annual CBA Model UN event. Four of our students were recognized for their efforts;
Grace Chiszar, grade 6, won accolades for her work on the Historical General Assembly - Soviet Invasion of Afghanistan representing India's point of view.
Alexandra Irausquin and Jacqueline Bradley, grade 8, won accolades for their work on 1787 Constitutional Convention. Alexandra represented the perspective of Luther Martin of Maryland and Jacqueline represented the point of view of Joseph Brant of the Ohio Territory.
Matthew D'Arcy, grade 7, won accolades for his work on UN Human Rights - Freedom of the Press/Safety of Journalists representing Slovakia's perspective.
Thank you, again, to the PTA for their generosity in paying each student's fee to the conference this year. We appreciate all that you do.
Many thanks to Mrs. Stacy Vitale for agreeing to supervise the students. Also, thank you to Mrs. Candice Tesauro Schutz, Mrs. Franca Bodenski, and Mrs. Cindy D'Arcy who assisted her as chaperones. We appreciate all of your time and support!
