SMCISD
Week of May 2
Smash the STAAR
To celebrate all their diligence in preparing for the STAAR tests, the Rodriguez Knights held a pep rally on Friday, May 6. Performances by the Rodriguez Hip Hop club, staff cheerleaders, and special guests, Coach Walsh and SMHS Senior Class President, Caleb Williams left the Knights with some words of encouragement. Best of luck to all our SMCISD students who begin testing next Tuesday, May 10.
School Lunch Heroes
Friday, May 6, SMCISD celebrated School Lunch Hero Day! This is a special day of celebration to recognize school nutrition professionals. Thank you to each and every employee in SMCISD Child Nutrition Department for all you do!
SMCISD honors Teachers of the Year and Retirees
San Marcos CISD honored the 2021-2022 Teachers of the Year and Retirees as students, staff, and families paraded around Toyota Rattler Stadium to thank our honorees for their service to the district. Congratulations to our Teachers of the Year and Retirees!
Rattler Playoff Baseball
The Rattler Baseball season came to end this weekend but not after a hard fought battle against Round Rock Westwood. "I'm proud of this team and program and what it represents. The program is on the right track and good things are coming," Coach Bryan Webb.
Bowie Beach Day
The Bowie Champions held their annual Beach Day on Friday, May 6. Thank you to the SMHS student volunteers for making this event extra special!
Put Em' on the Podium
This past week, SMHS HOSA attended the Texas HOSA State Leadership Conference in Galveston. We brought students who advanced from Area competition in three events and they competed with 3500 other students from around Texas. All three events placed in the top 5 and made the podium! Their results are as follows: Emma Hargraves 1st place Home Health Aide, Avery May 5th place Researched/Persuasive Writing and Speaking; Gabriel Martinez & Cassidy Livingston 4th place Health Education. Emma will advance to compete at the HOSA International Leadership Conference in Nashville, TN this summer.
One Singular Sensation
The San Marcos High School Diamond Line and Dazzler dance teams have done it once again! The groups hosted a two-day Broadway themed show to conclude the dancing season for the 2021-2022 academic year. We congratulate our seniors on a successful season and wish them the best.
Singing for the State
Congratulations to these two young ladies, Ezra Mendez (left) & Addison Odam (right), for making the Texas FFA State Choir. They will be performing at the 94th Texas FFA Convention in July! Please wish them congratulations and good luck!
Strikers Got Talent
Mendez Elementary showed their appreciation for all their volunteers this academic year by hosting a Community Volunteer Appreciation Reception on Friday, May 6. Along with a delicious breakfast, the Strikers entertained the attendees with student performances, artwork, and an abundance of appreciation.
