Happy Valentine's Day greetings to you as we reach this midway point in the month of February. Thank you to everyone who participated in the February 8th Special Election. Initial counts last week indicated that both levies received passing rates with the 2022 EP&O levy receiving 55.84% of the vote, and the capital levy receiving 55.48% of the vote. The passage of both levies means that our school and district will be able to continue providing critical programs and services for our learners. Additionally, this vote provides funding for essential technology and needed capital projects across our district.
On behalf of everyone on our team here at Monroe, we want to thank each person who took the time to vote. Additionally, thank you to all who shared important levy information and volunteered time in an effort to increase voting across our Everett community. Please take a moment to read the thank you from our Everett Public Schools Superintendent, Dr. Ian Saltzman (click here).
As a school, we continue our collective celebration of Black History Month including daily opportunities to learn together in the classroom and through our regular morning announcements. Thus far, we have been able to study the exemplary lives of Black American leaders including author/historian Carter G. Woodson, mathematician Katherine Johnson, poet/author Amanda Gorman, Civil Rights leader Ruby Bridges, and dancer/author Misty Copeland. With each leader, we seek to learn from their story and character, exploring how we can apply a characteristic from their life into our own. Please see the below for example prompts.
Additionally, as part of our every-Wednesday focus on various colleges and career fields, we celebrated Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and took a closer look at the alma mater of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Morehouse College.
Please continue to check-in on our Monroe Twitter account across the coming weeks for updates related to our collective opportunities.
Our current school gear ordering window will come to a close this coming Friday, February 18th. We have received a wonderful response related to our Monroe "MOE gear" but certainly have the capacity for additional orders.
Please contact our school office should you need a new order form, like the one pictured below. Please complete and return order forms to school, and we will ensure that these are forwarded to our PTA.
Additionally, please click here for our February Update from our wonderful Monroe PTA.
For more information specific to the upcoming student survey, please see the attached letter below.
