NEWS FROM THE HEADS
Happy New Year to you, and I hope 2016 brings happiness, fulfillment and a sense of well being to you and all your family.
Theme of the week in assemblies has been using our experiences to allow us to go forward, and not to limit what we might do in the future. It’s also about seizing the moment, not allowing dreams of the future to inhibit living in the now and grabbing opportunities.

Welcome back to the Lent Term after what was a very busy and successful 1st term. The girls have many things to look forward to over the next few weeks and they have started the term with a very positive and engaged attitude. Year 6 started their Stock Market topic on the first day back; already some girls have made a profit… there have been losses too!

We wish everybody a very happy and healthy 2016 from all of us in The Nursery Department.
It has been a lovely start to the year with children coming in with smiling faces and full of chatter about their holidays and new toys. We have welcomed lots of new children into the nursery rooms and are pleased to say how well they are settling in and they even coped remarkably well with the fire drill on Thursday morning. The new children in Transition are having a wonderful time too and have had no problems transferring from their nursery classes.

Swimarathon – Saturday 9 January
The school is raising money for charity by entering 6 teams in the Lions Club Swimarathon at The Magnet pool. Supporters are very welcome to come along to cheer our teams on.
Year 10 Senior Girls - Looking Beyond GCSE Evening Thursday 14 January 2016
Year 10 parents and girls are invited to an information evening 'Looking Beyond GCSE' - if you wish to attend can you please confirm by returning the tear off slip at the bottom of the letter sent home recently.
Year 11 GCSE Revision Clinics
These start next week. Please let your teacher know in advance if you are planning to attend. The timetable can be found on the board outside the Assistant Heads' Office or on the Year 11 page of the school hub.
Clothing Collection
Thank you to all those who donated clothing, footwear, hats and gloves before Christmas. The Salvation Army would like to say how grateful they were for all the donations received, without which they could not be able to support society’s most vulnerable people.

Nearly New Uniform Sale Girls Only - Tuesday 26 January
A reminder to all parents that the PTA are holding a nearly new sale on Tuesday 26 January 3pm - 5pm in the Dining Hall; If you wish to sell any outgrown/unwanted good condition uniform please remember to complete the paperwork/labels that can be found on the school website.
Burns Night Supper
The annual Burns Night Supper will take place on Saturday 30 January 2016 at Senior Boys. All funds raised will support our Touring Sports sides. Please see the flyer for further information.
Vaccinations
Year 9 Diphtheria/Tetanus/Polio and Meningitis are taking place next Friday 15 January.
Parents Picking Up
The area directly outside the main doors from the atrium is not designated parking - please can parents not use this to stop and wait in their vehicles for their daughter to come out of school.
Lost/Found
The office still has a number of children's clothing items that have not been claimed, namely a padded gilet, blue padded coat and a blue fleece jacket. If they sound familiar please pop along to the school office to claim.
JUNIOR GIRLS STOCK-MARKET
YEAR 6 TAKE ON THE STOCK-MARKET!
The Year 6 class have each invested £15,000 in shares on the Stock Market (not real money!). The girls will monitor their share prices on a daily basis, record the data, produce graphs and charts, work out the profit and loss at the end of each week and after four weeks of trading, sell their shares to find the eventual 'Stockbroker of the Year' winner. Watch this space for their recommendations each week.DRAMA NEWS

Accelerated Reader House Winner
Congratulations to all the Year 7 girls who have made a fantastic start to the academic year with our new reading development scheme, ‘Accelerated Reader’. Not only are many girls well on their way to becoming ‘Word Millionaires’ (having read one million words or more) special congratulations must go to St Ignatius, whose members read the most words in the Autumn Term! Well done girls! ‘Yellow’ prizes will be on their way to you soon…
Taking a Risk in the Library…
Look out for our new display supporting the ‘Claires Court Essential of the Month’. In January we are focussing on risk-takers so come and find a new book showing what benefits taking risks can bring…

Miss Hudson will be in reception - please report to her when you arrive. Mrs Ruddick will be poolside so once you are changed please report to her.

School swimming kit (blue costume, swimming hat, goggles and towel)
Snacks and drink for after
Our time in the pool will finish at 5pm so please arrange to be picked straight after.
