How to stay safe while playing sports.
What To Wear To Stay Safe
Helmets are needed for sports such as baseball, softball, biking, snow skiing, rollerblading; etc. You should always wear a helmet when you play those certain kinds of sports. Also make sure your helmet fits well.
Mouth guards protect your mouth, teeth, and tongue. You should wear a mouth guard if you have braces or if the sport that you play requires one.
Footwear is important & necessary for every sport. For soccer, baseball, football, & softball you use cleats. When playing other sports use different types of footwear depending on the sport you are playing.
Uniform's are different depending on who your are playing for, if you have any sponsors; etc.
What to eat and drink before and after sports
Athletes who don't take in enough calories every day won't be as fast and strong as they could be.
Teens need anywhere from 2000-5000 calories per day, depending on how active they are.
The good news is that you don't have to eat a special diet to be healthy, but you don't have to chow down on carbs or chug sports drinks either.
Many kids eat to many "empty calories", which add to your weight and not much to your health.
Many Americans eat to much or very big portions of food which can lead to health problems.
An example of eating/drinking healthy is to drink water instead of sugary drinks.
