Burton Street News and Information
June 2021
Hello families,
It's amazing that it is already June and we are wrapping up an absolutely extraordinary school year! Despite the uncertainties and changes, we have had a successful school year in which our phenomenal teachers and staff have worked tirelessly to provide a consistent and fun educational experience in the most 'typical' ways possible.
While other districts are just returning to school, Cazenovia has been committed to providing in-person learning, five days a week, since opening day in September. As of today, 93% of our students are learning in person at Burton Street. For our students learning from home, they have had a consistent classroom teacher and community for the entire school year, thanks to our four unbelievably innovative teachers and a teaching assistant.
Burton Street has been in session all but nine school days this year. These nine remote days were due to Covid-19 quarantines and/or precautions. This would not have been possible without the unbelievable support and flexibility of our families and community. I know this year posed its challenges and procedures were different and I truly appreciate your adherence and understanding. What Cazenovia and Burton Street have accomplished this year is nothing short of remarkable.
I am so very proud of the Burton Street community and the amazing things we have accomplished this year. From the 'smaller' tasks of remembering to send the Covid-19 yellow slips to school, to the 'larger' tasks of bringing Chromebooks home and going remote, we have made it through the year! An enormous THANK YOU to all the families and community members who graciously made changes and adjustments to allow for the school year to occur in person safely, amidst a capital project and new principal to boot!
I thank you all, from the bottom of my heart, for welcoming me to Burton Street and being so supportive this year. I truly appreciate your partnership and continue to welcome productive conversations and feedback. I am honored to be part of the Burton Street community.
Have a wonderful summer full of memories and fun! Stay safe!

Pennant Walk
K-3 students will be called outside by grade level to stand on the bus loop sidewalk to watch the 4th graders. Parents/guardians will be welcome on campus, but asked to stand on the grass. Please park in the lot off of Clark Street. No vehicles will be allowed in the bus loop as it will be coned off.
At 10am, 4th graders will depart the building and walk the bus loop twice with their pennants so both students and parents/guardians can cheer for them. Following the parade, all students will return to the building for the remainder of the day.
