Holiday Craft Pickup for Remote Students
Classes will participate in a holiday craft during their winter parties next week. If your child is working remotely, we will have a craft kit at the front desk for you to pick up on Thursday and/or Friday of this week. When you get to the school, please let Ms. Ulmer know the grade level of your student(s) and she will provide you with needed materials so that your child can actively participate in the winter holiday party fun.
Dr. Looney confirmed that the current model of Face-to-Face instruction, with the option for Remote Learning, would continue through the holiday break and during second semester. Similar to the process followed in first semester, parents are being asked through a commitment survey to decide which model they want for their child(ren). Parents must declare their decision by December 11 or their child(ren)’s placement will default to the learning environment they were in as of December 14. The decision will remain in effect for the first nine weeks of second semester so that schools and teachers can allocate resources and plan accordingly.

UNIVERSAL REMOTE LEARNING RESOURCES
What is Title I?
Title I is a federally funded program designed to ensure that all children have a fair, equal, and significant opportunity to obtain a high-quality education and reach, at a minimum, proficiency on challenging state academic standards and state academic assessments.
The Title I program focuses on the academic needs of the most disadvantaged students.
PARENTS ARE A VALUABLE RESOURCE IN THE EDUCATION OF THEIR STUDENTS
During grade school, kids start getting homework for the first time to reinforce and extend classroom learning and help them practice important study skills.
By doing homework, kids learn how to:
- read and follow directions independently
- manage and budget time (for long-term assignments like book reports)
- complete work neatly and to the best of their ability
It also helps them develop a sense of responsibility, pride in a job well done, and a work ethic that will benefit them well beyond the classroom.
Parents can give kids lots of homework help, primarily by making homework a priority and helping them develop good study habits.

FAMILY RESOURCES FOR REMOTE LEARNING
The stress and uncertainty surrounding the coronavirus pandemic presents daily challenges to the well- being of families and children. In response the Child Mind Institute provides telehealth treatment for children, adolescents and young adults with mental health and learning disorders, as well as free resources at childmind.org/coronavirus. Below, clinicians from our Learning and Development Center have organized resources for parents who are suddenly responsible for the home school environment. These resources, broken down by age groups, include academic materials, worksheets, activities, videos, games, and more.
