News and Notes

Dear Parents,

I hope you had a blessed First Sunday of Advent and a wonderful Thanksgiving break. Please join us on Saturday, 12/7/19 for our Christmas Tree Sale, Christmas Fair, and Advent Tree Lighting. Order forms for our Christmas wreath are due tomorrow. Thank you to Mr. Agro for organizing our Tree and Wreath Sale.

Don't forget our Book Fair is December 4th-7th from 8-3 in the STEM Lab. Thank you to Mrs. McNally for organizing our book fair.

Tomorrow is our #GivingTuesday Charity Dress Down. Transfiguration School will host a "Charity Dress Down” to benefit the St. Vincent de Paul Society at Transfiguration Church as they work to provide 50 local families with groceries and gifts cards to make their holiday season a little bit brighter. Students wishing to participate can bring the suggested $2.00 donation to their homeroom teacher on Tuesday morning. This is an optional fundraiser and school uniforms may be worn for those who do not wish to participate.

Have a great week,

Ms. Kazan

Service Update

Tis' the season of giving and this #GivingTuesday we will come together as one Transfiguration community to celebrate and promote small acts of kindness.

Giving Tree - December 1 through December 13: In addition to the Giving Trees at Church, Transfiguration School has its own Giving Tree for St. Jerome’s Parish in the Bronx. Please stop by the school lobby and select a gift tag to help bring holiday cheer to children in need. Each tag will contain a child’s name, age/grade and gift suggestion(s). Wrapped gifts should be returned to school no later than Friday, December 13.

Student Volunteers Needed Holiday Fair - December 7: We are still in need of several student volunteers to help at the Holiday Fair in the School Cafeteria between the hours of 9:00am and 3pm. Please contact Gina Mueller if your child would like to help out.

Remember, during the holiday season there's many ways to spread cheer through our community and impact the lives of those in need. Visit #GivingTuesday to see how you can volunteer locally.

A very special thanks to the Mrs. Mueller, the Service Club and all the students who helped set-up and decorate the Giving Trees over the holiday weekend!

December 1st- 1st Sunday of Advent

Sunday, December 1st, marked the second Sunday of Advent. We will light the first candle of our School Advent Wreath this morning. The Advent Wreath is a big tradition in my house. I remember when I was younger being so excited when I saw the purple and pink candles, knowing that our Advent Wreath would soon be set up.

I have attached an Advent calendar for next week with some daily reminders, activities and prayers to do with your children. I have also added a great video about Advent.

I wish you all a blessed Advent.
